“I didn’t start it”

“I didn’t start it!”
Translates into:
“I have been as bad, but the other guy started it first so it’s okay for me to act like him!”
We are never going to change anything with a tit for tat mentality. No matter how you dress it up.
Thoughts?
Shall we keep going with a tit for tat mentality or shall we rise above and say what we need to say, regardless?
To be honest, even my kids know the answer to this.

Does anyone else realise how stupid that sounds as an excuse to exchange childish insults?
How do we expect to change the world or the future of our children if we have grown men exchanging childish insults when trying to communicate?
Words fucking fail me.
For those of you that think it’s a winner, a game-changer, or a great way to communicate.
It is not.
I wouldn’t teach a dog to behave in the manner that some of you think is civilised.
Grow up. It’s not clever, or funny, and nor does it win you any points.

To be fair, sometimes I start it.
Once I start losing respect for people, I become an asshole. But respect doesn't mean agreeing with me. I am surrounded by people who often don't agree with me, nor me with them. We have each other's back because there is more to life than agreeing on everything.
I know I'm a broken record on this but it's not about your political position. It's about you as a human. People on the receiving end of my vitriol have lost my respect. I dig in and sling shit.

It is funny how some people can rub us up the wrong way and bring out the worst in us.
In real life they can often be avoided, if they cant, we can either refuse to let them bother us, or respond to every little irritation and make matters worse.
I do think on forums most of us retaliate sometimes...it's human nature.
It's best if we can keep personal stuff out of arguments though...no matter who started it.

That's a shame, I enjoyed posting with you. It didn't cross my mind that this thread was started with you in mind....More for Quill and Maddog.
Forums are not for the faint hearted though, and if you choose to enter into arguments and get rough....it IS a two way street, you give it and you get it back.
If that makes you unhappy, why not stay and keep out of the insult throwing?

It's all a bit too technical for you, Maddog, you have to know which keys to press on your conputer, but also in the correct order.

Eddie's in no way trying to become the forum enforcer; I don't see any evidence of that at all.
If something that's happened on here prompts a thought, what's wrong with starting a thread inspired by it? Has it gotten to the point where not only can we not single out members in a thread, we can't even start threads that might apply to some members?

You can if the Admin uncheck the registration required box in the admin controls.

I get it now...when they made the post they were a member, when they leave/are banned, the posts remain but instead of their user name 'guest' replaces it.
I didn't know Korben had left, so to see some posts credited to 'guest' confused me for a minute....it doesn't take much I know.

I get it now...when they made the post they were a member, when they leave/are banned, the posts remain but instead of their user name 'guest' replaces it.
