Missing woman who disappeared on her walk home in South London - serving police officer arrested
A married police officer who works in Westminster has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of Sarah Everard.
Wayne Couzens, 48, a late entrant to the police service, was taken out of his home in Deal in handcuffs last night.
Police are searching woods and farmland in at least two areas in Kent, a forensics tent has been put up outside his property and two cars were removed last night.
Sources said that he was an officer deployed to guard government and diplomatic sites. He was reportedly currently working at Westminster.
Everard was last seen on a street in Clapham Park, south London, a week ago and the Met described last night’s arrest of a serving officer as “serious and significant”.

He was originally arrested on suspicion of kidnap, but has since also been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Seems the police are pretty sure they have got the man responsible.

ARMED cop Wayne Couzens had been linked to an alleged sex offence four days before the kidnap and murder of Sarah Everard, it emerged last night.Tommy Monk wrote:

But police failed to act and arrest Couzens over the accusation of indecent exposure at fast food take away in South London.
