I don't doubt that. Soldiers and cops are often authoritarian in nature, as are white supremacists.

I think they have always been in the police force and military to some degree.

The people who follow Trump are the same people who bombed the Oklahoma City federal building, killing 168 people, and injuring 680 others.  They are white supremacists, anti-government types, originally centered in Elohim City, Oklahoma.  When a movement as strong as white supremacy in America is inclusive enough, it’s bound to infiltrate not only the police, but the city and county councils, etc.  Indeed, that’s how Jim Crow laws got their start.

The weapons make it worse. Without those, they look like the most jingoistic Americans you could imagine, but you could write that off as, Dad made everybody dress that way.
