We don't get snow in coastal California. The Japanese current flows up from the south and warms everything up along the west coast.
But I remember that feeling when I moved back to New Jersey to attend Rutgers. Snow covered everything about this time in December, and the thing I remember most is the pall of silence that surrounded everything.

It's true, when it snows everything seems very quiet, apart from in parts of Scotland earlier today.
They heard loud booming noises over Edinburgh, people wondered what it was.
It was a rare phenomenon when thunder comes when it's snowing not raining.in heavy snow.

Jesus, poor Quill has lived in New Jersey and California. No wonder he suffers so many problems.

I've seen snow with thunder and lightning before her in London... But you're right that it doesn't happen often...

Haha... Also Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania. plus working in Manhattan, 2 trips a day...and don't forget Arizona.
The eastern states are so compact that it is nothing to cross 4 or 5 in a single day-trip by automobile. Texas takes 2 days alone, to cross. And Los Angeles to San Francisco, in California, is like Washington to Jacksonville. That was one of the strange things to get used to, moving from the west to the east coast...the distances are way shorter.

It is Nicko, I had never heard of it till yesterday.
Apparently it sounds more like a boom than a clap of thunder.
All our snow has melted overnight.

The falling and fallen snow act as an acoustic suppressor, giving off the sharp 'boom' sound rather than the normal crackling roll of thunder.

I would love to have heard it. Sadly though we got the snow we didn't get the thunderstorm with it.

It actually snowed a bit here on Christmas day, made it very festive....it didn't stick though.
72 real degrees today (not those fake degrees yall use). I rode 40 miles in shorts and a T shirt.

Re: Snow watch.
Last white Christmas I saw was eight years ago in North Texas (I bet Maddog remembers it). I'm told that here in the southeast of England it rarely snows, though I'm pretty sure it did in 2019.
Re: Snow watch.
It is a winter wonderland...the snow has fallen in the night, the kids over the road have made a fine looking snowman, and soon I will be out pelting my OH with snowballs....which he hates.

Re: Snow watch.
We never really get proper snow here in the south east.
It’s usually not cold enough. I’m quite glad really. I only like snow for the first day then it goes all icy and then turns into black smoosh.

Did you know he’s made a sweatshirt of that photo? He’s selling them for charity.

The woman, from Vermont, who made the mittens, had stopped making them anymore. Now, she's got so many orders she has restarted the line. It's for charity, I hear.
