guilt has no part to play when you know God's Grace.

Wouldn't you say that guilt is God's way of telling us that we've done something wrong?
Would anyone seek God's grace if they never felt bad about some of their deeds?

If you realise the idea of the guilt is to make you realise you need a Saviour, the guilt is good, when you relise that through undeserved forgiveness, God's Grace, there is a way for that guilt to be completely unloaded that is even better.

I agree, I would argue that if you feel guilt you have not gone so far as to be anethatised to doing wrong and not caring.so guilt could be a positive as it caused a reaction but I think guilt is still a negative feeling that would make someone ill.

Leaving God out of it, I would say guilt is our own way of telling us we have done something wrong.
Some people live their lives feeling guilty about trivia, others never have a twinge no matter how horrendous they are.
It's a pointless emotion imo, but being human probably the people who suffer from it most are the nicest people.

Yep, some people can do the most horrendous acts without a twinge of guilt or remorse, thank goodness they seem to be in the minority.

Re: Religion and guilt
I don't think there's ever been a society where children aren't taught what that particular people's idea of right and wrong is whether it is cultural or religious. I think perhaps certain things people were or weren't supposed to do probably for a good reason initially,
overtime became a religion and I more certain that people in power added to and used those requirements and taboos to control the majority and especially women.
