Boris admitted to hospital
Shouldn't have listened to Cummings herd theory. Should have locked down 2 weeks earlier and people should have been TOLD, not asked to stay indoors and isolate.
BBC News - Coronavirus: PM admitted to hospital over virus symptoms
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-52177125
I guess now that he is no longer plugged into the Governments internet, Raab will take over as acting PM. God help us.

Re: Boris admitted to hospital
A lot of medical experts were telling him this weeks ago. He preferred to listen to his bet mate Dom.
Herd immunity is a ludicrous concept in the face of a global pandemic.
Invite EVERYONE to catch it, the weak die, the strong live and have subsequent immunity.
Until the virus modifies and that immunity is worthless.

that applies to anyone...even if vaccinated
and your buddy Starmer is is beginning to show that nothing has changed
"5 minutes in the top job, and he is already criticising the government for how they are doing things and asking for the impossible, like a nationwide vaccination program, before there is even a vaccine??"

Re: Boris admitted to hospital
NOT that I agreed with the concept of "herd immunity, as it would have to apply in this case.... due to the sheer number of cases and deaths that would occur in a very short time frame.
the theory is sound, but of course has to be provided by vaccination, not exposure. Of course if it proves that no vaccine can be made, then thats how it will have to go.....no other course is possible, else we will be in permanent lock down/release/lock down cycles.....

Re: Boris admitted to hospital
The leader of the opposition's job is to.point out mistakes made by the government.
He has said when things are done right, the govt. will have his full support.
If he didn't point out the errors he would be failing in his duty.
No doubt some would attack him if he kept silent over Boris's errors.
I think the expression 'damned if he does, damned if he doesn't ' applies in this case as far as you are concerned.
It's probably more a case that you dislike anything and anyone connected with Labour.. Unlike you, I can see effective politicians whichever party they represent.
Rishi Sunak is doing a superb job, for example.

Re: Boris admitted to hospital
pointing out mistakes is only useful if you have a better and helpful and practical suggestion....
everyone was caught flat footed in a way, no govt anywhere in the world appreciated the speed and ferocity of this, and whilst you can argue till the cows come home that they SHOULD have....they didnt.....
I wonder how much this is going to change the world.....hopefully it will kill off globalisation and internationalism (though i hope NOT international cooperation on many things.....) but we dont need to be tied in a lovers embrace with every nation
Moreover i wonder how its going to change US......i mean, I'm an antisocial old grump anyway, so isolation per se aint a problem to me....but I'd like to be able to travel to my wood again.. (which i can do in one trip without a break and without interacting with anybody, and when there I AM isolated...thoroughly ).
but how many will take a liking to working from home etc....how many parents may well get to like the idea of actually spending time with their kids etc etc.......

Re: Boris admitted to hospital
Actually, herd immunity is the only way this thing ends. Either through everyone catching it, or some sort of vaccination. Isolation is just to slow down the pace that everyone gets it so that the medical community can stay caught up.
There seems to be this misconception that if everyone stays home for a few weeks it will disappear.
If only that were the case.

It is, but he had knowledge of how serious this was before. He should have known better. This is a prime example of how too many laughed this off or didn’t think it would happen to them.
That said, I hope he is ok. Must be very scary for his family.

My thoughts are with him him, Carrie and his unborn babe for a speedy and full recovery hopefully.
It's not a great place to be, but he is in the best hands, as I was.
Just don't believe Tommy's mortality rates.

Yeah, no matter our individual political leanings, it’s not nice to see someone suffer.

I would never wish to see someone suffer, unless they had committed a truly horrendous crime. BoJo is far from that, of course. I think right now, the country really needs him.

Some of the comments on social media by none Tories have been disgusting.
People who put their politics before human empathy and kindness are lacking something somewhere imo.

A Labour coucellor has rightly been expelled for her comments.
"Sheila Oakes, who represents Heanor East on Amber Valley Borough Council in Derbyshire and is also the town's mayor, wrote a damning Facebook message last night after it emerged Boris Johnson's condition had deteriorated. The Prime Minister was admitted to the intensive care unit at St Thomas' Hospital in London on Monday night, but is said to be in a stable condition. However, instead of wishing Mr Johnson a speedy recovery, Ms Oakes said the Prime Minister "completely deserves" to have coronavirus.
Replying to a message calling for people to say a prayer for the Prime Minister, Councillor Oakes wrote: "Sorry, he completely deserves this and he is one of the worst PMs we’ve ever had."

It's really weird that you would say that. I have a song running through my head that says much the same thing.

Under Corbyn, there would have been a committee set up to investigate whether there needed to be an inquiry into her behaviour.
And Momentum would have objected to the make up of the committee.
