The Driving Force behind Conservatism
The Driving Force behind Conservatism
Those that have must keep it at all costs, those without are without because they don't deserve anything else. The belief that somehow the rich and powerful are there because they are 'special', better than the man and woman in the street, the boat must not be rocked, the status quo must be kept at all costs, the knee must be bent, the capped doffed and the humble must be kept humbled.
So many platitudes, and the unthinking and unquestioning followers who believe them. When will they finally stop bending their heads in supplication to those in authority and start questioning the policies of divide and rule. How easy it is to set one part of society against the other, when one part is happy for that to happen, believing it makes them part of the powerful, a member of 'The Club'.
In a moment a man can go from being a soldier, one of 'our brave boys', to be redundant and 'a benefits scrounger'. He can have PTS and turn to drink or drunks and then he is not only a benefits scrounger but a druggie or an alky, the lowest of the low. And still they will not question.
But the tide is turning, because previously those without work, those maligned, were from the bottom layer. These days the middle classes have been affected, even the children of the middle classes have been affected, the parents made redundant and, if they are lucky, working zero hours contracts or part time jobs, behind with the mortgage, laying in bed at night worrying how the bills are going to be paid, the children desperate for their first job, a lost generation.
The farmers of Somerset, seeing the floods rise while the funds that could have stopped them rising so high were cut, the shipbuilders of Portsmouth, the bank workers who have lost their jobs while watching their bosses get huge bonuses. Each one a nail in the coffin of an elitist government who only care about their friends in high places and keeping their wealth and power. The worm is not only turning, the worm is finding a pair of very sharp dentures to bite back.

That is bang on the money and sums this disgusting coalition up as well as the cap doffers and forelock tuggers that frequent this place expecting people to be just like them.
Well said.

Thanks.
My hope is that the worm files those dentures to a point and bites extremely hard!
