Titania McGrath: Woke warriors need just two words to put you oldies in your place — OK boomer (Brliiant Satire)
The postwar generation has received the ultimate put-down — and, boy, they had it coming, says the activist, healer and intersectionalist poet
Old people are super-problematic. They don’t know what “non-binary” means, most of them aren’t vegan and they’re not on Instagram, which means we can’t be sure what they’re up to. Even the ones who fought in the Second World War ended up voting for Brexit, so we can be fairly certain they were only opposing Hitler as a cover for their fascism.
Thankfully, there’s a new phrase doing the rounds on social media that is a great way to shut down an old person if they try to disagree with you. I used it last week when my grandmother was accusing me of living in some kind of “echo chamber” (even though all my close friends agree that’s definitely not the case). I simply looked at her and uttered the words “OK boomer”. The sheer sophistication of this retort left her utterly speechless. Victory was mine.
The word “boomer” is a modified version of “baby-boomer” for those who can’t be bothered with the extra syllables. And a great thing about the ingenious OK boomer riposte is that it can be used against any old person of any age, not just those born in the baby-boom era, between 1946 and 1964. It’s more a state of mind.
And now it has found its way into mainstream politics. Earlier this month, Chlöe Swarbrick, a 25-year-old Green Party MP in New Zealand’s parliament who was berating her older colleagues for opposing a bill that would reduce carbon emissions, snapped “OK boomer” when she was challenged. Who needs “argument” or “debate” when you have an empowering meme like that up your sleeve?
To be honest, I didn’t even know New Zealand had its own parliament. I thought it was just a timeshare for rich Australians.

And the Boomers respond by calling the young people "triggered snowflake" and a wealth of wisdom is thus shared, and indeed enriched, by inter-generational exchange.

Errr no, that would be the specific term "generation snowflake"
Snowflake itself can be applied to all ages.
Anyway the satire was hilarious from the article lol

.
Yep...
And probably one good reason why that attempted putdown by the 'Millennials generation' won't catch on down here..
