More fun in Texas - Page 2 Empty More fun in Texas

First topic message reminder :

ABC News wrote:Gunman on the run after 2 killed in Houston highway shooting

A gunman and his accomplice are still on the run after killing two people on a major highway in Texas during rush hour Thursday evening, authorities said.

Houston Police are now offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect in the attack.

The deadly shooting occurred just before 6 p.m. local time when the suspect's car struck another vehicle on Interstate 10 in Houston, causing it to spin out similar to a PIT maneuver. The suspect and another individual in his car got out in the middle of the freeway.

Then the suspect, believed to be armed with an assault-style rifle, opened fire at the other vehicle, according to officials with the Houston Police Department.

The gunman followed the car as it rolled backwards down the freeway, firing multiple rounds. He continued to shoot at the windshield even after the vehicle came to a stop, police said.

The vehicle's occupants -- two men who were 25 and 33 years old -- were killed. Narcotics were later found inside their car, police said.

A bystander who saw the shooting took out his own gun and fired several rounds at the suspect, who then ran back to his car, a dark-colored Sedan, and fled the scene, police said.

It's unknown if the suspect was hit.

Police described the suspect as a man in his 20s who was wearing a red shirt.

The section of the highway where the shooting occurred remained closed overnight while investigators processed the crime scene.

The investigation is ongoing and police are considering all possible motives. Police are looking for both men from the suspect's vehicle.

"Road rage? An accident? Narcotics? We don't know yet," Houston Police Assistant Chief W.R. Dobbins told reporters at a press conference Thursday night.

ABC News' Ella Torres contributed to this report.

The President, Caligula Trump, says that this gun violence is due to mental illness.  Are all who carry guns insane?  I can believe it...just need confirmation.

Ben, I'm a little different from other snowflake Dems.  Like Republicans, I shoot first, and ask questions later.  I've seen feather merchants at work...Obama letting Cheney go...Pelosi cowering at the prospect of standing on the front lines, impeaching Trump.  It sucks.  Look at Redneck...he has no respect for anyone but those like him.  You gotta fight fire with fire.

I've always sympathized with Dems, except for one thing.  They are cowards.  I'm not.

You do shoot your mouth off. No denying that.

Two posts in a row.  Wow...Redneck your OCD is getting the best of you.

Look, I understand your jealousy.  You resent anyone who can best you at every juncture.  Your night school education has put a ceiling over your head, above which you cannot rise.  Perhaps if you had worked a little harder in High School, you might have gotten into university.  Harder still, you might have gotten into a premium university, as I did.

Then if you work hard there, impress a few professors, they will write letters and sponsor you throughout your life.  It keeps paying dividends.  It keeps paying rewards.  Now you can go anywhere you want, do anything you fancy.  You get into even better graduate studies, at even better universities.  You can go as far, and as long as you like.

You?  You fooked up.  You were probably into cars and girls...got drunk on Southern Star Beer and high on weed every afternoon, out behind the junior college.  You learned nothing, and your teachers knew you as a registration number only.  See?  Nobody ever taught you how the system works.

I understand your grief.  You feel like someone dropped you somewhere along the path of life.  The first thing you do is, you look around you and you see the many, many others who have gone higher and faster.  You resent them.  Over a Southern Star (still drinkin' eh?) and a little weed, you project your own failure onto your betters.  And your self-loathing fuels your venom.

But the truth is, you dropped yourself.  You kept taking the cheap path, instead of the one that required work, but was full of reward.  You skipped too many classes to drink Southern Star and smoke weed out behind the junior college.

You chose your life, and I chose mine.  While you bawl about it over a keyboard, I lean back and look at the degrees and awards on my office wall...and  I've got nothing to be sorry about.  But you've got everything to be sorry about...and you cry and curse everyone but yourself, cause it helps you to reduce the cognitive dissonance you feel about your life.  But it doesn’t change anything.

So ... you've had private detectives following him since high school, huh?

What's sad is that you think you know all those things without having to actually know anything about Maddog.

Kind of like how the KKK knew that black men were out to rape white women without even knowing those black men, I'd say.

I know you think you're right. I'm sure the KKK is just as convinced.

No.  But being school for so long, I recognize the pattern of failures...those that didn't make it.  Treat my post as describing the 'typical' failure, expressing his rage at those who made it...and he has no idea why.

Ben wrote:What's sad is that you think you know all those things without having to actually know anything about Maddog.

Ben, there's nothing sad about it.  It's just experience.  I've taught at four different universities, and I know the signs of a drop-out.

There are four essential reasons for failure: 1) academic unpreparedness; 2) Fear; 3) Laziness; and 4) Apathy. https://www.studyright.net/blog/study-guide-why-successful-students-avoid-these-4-causes-of-failure/  One has to develop a protection against what, otherwise, is shear inadequacy and guilt.  https://www.nifdi.org/news-latest-2/blog-hempenstall/397-failure-to-learn-causes-and-consequences-dr-kerry-hempenstall

As far as his bitterness at having failed to achieve, read up on aggressive anger: "This type of anger may seem powerful on the outside, but often betrays an individual’s insecurity on the inside. When we look mindfully at someone’s repeated, aggressive anger, we may recognize a deep sense of fear and inadequacy within—"  https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/communication-success/201905/4-types-anger-and-their-destructive-impact

His anger is really anger at himself.

Ben wrote:Kind of like how the KKK knew that black men were out to rape white women without even knowing those black men, I'd say.

I don't see any research to that effect.  But it's an interesting hypothesis.  I’m sure some have looked into it.

Ben wrote:I know you think you're right. I'm sure the KKK is just as convinced.

But unlike the KKK, I have inter-subjective consensus going for me.  With some minor variations, most educators agree with me.  And, tho a harsh conclusion it is, if a student doesn't try, he doesn't know how good he can be.

Redneck never tried.  The classic sign is his rage at someone who did try, and succeeded.  He’s not angry at me; he’s angry at himself.

Ben, I know you want to be a nice guy to all people.  But sometimes bad things happen, and as a reporter you don't sugarcoat it, do you?

I'm saving others.  What to keep clear of.  The correct attitude.

You are just an example of what it's like, to avoid.
