Not a trick question, but what are her qualifications that make her an expert?
Does she have a degree in child rearing?
Does she have a degree in child rearing?

dunno andy, that's the only clip i saw.

Agree with Andy.
An expert in what exactly?
An authoritarian state?

Depends on the grandparents, doesn't it...
What if they're smokers or heavy drinkers -- should those poor children then be told to suffer in silence ?
Many toddlers seem to initiate hugs with grandparents, aunties and uncles, as well, even without being asked or told..

I think children should be treated like anybody else. If you went for a hug with an adult who shied away from it, you wouldn't force yourself on them. Neither should you force a kid.

I was about to say the same thing. Kids don’t always want to kiss or hug anyone.

Grandparents shouldn't have to ask permission, that's ridiculous, but kids should know if they dont want to be kissed or hugged they have the right to refuse, even if it is grandma or grandad or anyone else come to that.

I agree. But when I ask a child for a cuddle I do tend to ask “can I have a hug?”

I do with most kids, not with my own. I do though, like most grandparents I imagine, have instinctive feelings of whether they want to hug or not at that time.
I would never ever force a hug or a kiss.

nor i, nor did my parents
they would ask but if (rarely) they didn't want to then it would be fair enough
all mine used to love cuddles with nan and grandad though, they were all very close. my mum used to work as a nursery nurse years ago and then she and my dad fostered loads of different kids over the years, she also did childminding during the day and was a cuddly kind of person
bit different if great uncle fartpants decides he wants a kiss and then a parent is standing there insisting sternly that their kid goes to kiss great uncle fartpants with his breath that resembles a rotting carcass mixed with a bucket of fag butts.
no kids should be made to feel uncomfortable

Oh God no, that's akin to child cruelty.
My son didn't like distant family members or adults he barely knew wanting to kiss or cuddle him, he had the right to say so, if anyone asked did he want a hug he would just say...No, it's OK.....
He loved cuddles off his nan though.
I read somewhere that a high % of people who have cold sores were infected with the virus from grown ups kissing them when they were babies.
Horrible thought.
