I thought I heard somewhere that the whole Catholic priests remaining celibate thing was early Church politics at work, where priests (who were at the time marrying & raising kids) were passing their parishes on to their sons when they retired. Apparently the church didn't like this and decided to require celibacy. Has anyone else heard anything about this?

Anyway, there are some Catholic priests who are married; they were married before they became ordained, or they switched denominations; etc. The church doesn't want to divorce them, of course.

Marriage is supposed to be a most important, joyous and blessed part of every religion, so I can't understand why any religion would demand that one of their practitioners should not be allowed to get married themselves.

Two people in love, joined as one, in holy matrimony, experiencing the joy and happiness, then bearing child, a gift from god, etc.

Who would be more worthy than a religious representative themselves?

Practice what you preach springs to mind...!

And a great example to other followers.

And as far as peados are concerned, bad people (like any predator), will always try to get themselves into position where they can have more opportunities to easily prey on their targets.
