Cambridge to assign white academics an ethnic minority mentor to combat racism and assist 'institutional change

Cambridge University is running a “reverse mentoring” scheme for staff to combat “structural racism”.

Under the project, white senior academics and management staff are assigned one of their black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) colleagues as a mentor in order to encourage “institutional change” at the university.

It is part of a raft of initiatives that the university’s equality and diversity department has introduced over the past year, aimed at boosting diversity and driving out racism.

Earlier this week, it emerged that a PhD student quit in protest after accusing Cambridge of “pervasive” racism.  

Indiana Seresin, 26, said that as a white student she had “benefited from the structural racism” of the university and felt she had an “imperative” to leave.

Yeah we have seen where this intersectionality led to before

Donno, didge. That's internal for the university to work out. Maybe it's an experimental program, to be spread out at a later time. Maybe there are limited funds...and the Ford Foundation will fund the larger program when it sees that it's working. You have to ask them.

I'm only saying I'm behind education 100%.

How about just stick to meritocracy... whereby good exam results = qualify for university places... and once the students are there, they are all expected to demonstrate their academic ability in the same way... without any system of bonus points or special treatment for being any specific ethnicity/race/religion etc...!?

And where would the likes of academic dunces such as David Cameron, Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage, GW Bush and Donnie Dumpster have been, without their rich daddies buying their uni' degrees for them  ???

Rule out any anti-discriminatory measures to help the poor and downtrodden on one side,  it's only fair that you should also remove the nepotism, corruption and "old boyz network" influences on the other side..
