Oh, and I didn't even get to wear shorts and flip-flops when I was doing that stuff!

We were promised a lovely weekend, it was thick cloud and not very warm, but at least it was dry.
I was looking after 2 children, a 5 year old and a 10 year old (sons partners kiddies) for 5 days and 4 nights......I can tell you I am bloody knackered, I have got out of the habit of looking after and entertaining little ones, even gorgeous ones.... I am going to spend the day relaxing in the garden now (Manchester weather permitting)
Ah that sounds lovely albeit tiring. I bet they loved having your company Syl!
You didn’t make them play scrabble did you?
No, though the 10 year old played countdown with us one night.
We went to parks, had a barge ride along the canal, picnic, ate out, fed horses, played ball games, all in all we all acted like kids.

Thanks again.x
I agree about kids enjoying the simple things. Grandsons (and these 2 new arrivals) have loved spending time in the static we had in wales. My eldest says the best holidays he has ever had were there.....which is amazing because most of the time there was no internet connection.

Never mind, Ben. You also need a knotted handkerchief on your head, a pipe stuck in your mouth and a rolled up copy of The Sun in your back pocket to become a real Englishman in summer.

From what I've seen, it varies from short-shorts, a t-shirt and flip-flops to a three-piece suit! Don't know how some of these men aren't sopping in sweat.
Can I sub out the pipe for an e-cig, and the Sun for the Mirror, which I prefer because it's nastier?

That's not good news.
However, I won't be at work so I can sit in front of a fan.

I hate it when it's hot, If it's cold you can put on more clothing , if it's too hot there's only so much you can take off, the humidity is worse !

I totally agree. You can heat a room but unless you have air conditioning you can't cool down. It's worse for people who have to go to work in the heat.

That's me done for then, can't cope with the humidity, I visited the Bahamas in the winter it was 86 - 90 degrees, found it ok except at night, one night we got stuck on one of the outer islands and had to stay in a house with no air conditioning, I thought I might die before morning, thankfully I only fell asleep - eventually.

Re: It's such a perfect day...
I have to say, 100 degrees in Texas is much easier to cope with than 80 in England, and that's because of AIR CONDITIONING.
But today was just one of those days where it feels nicer outside than it does inside. Edds keeps telling me this is not a typical English summer, and that there should be more heat.

Yeah we’ve been having late 60’s early 70’s F and that’s a bit cooler than we usually have in late July.

All those people hoping it gets hotter can just eff off. Low 70s would be quite enough.

I think it's quite strange how some people like it, and others hate it. We must feel heat differently to each other. I mean, I can't understand why someone would like feeling sweaty, thirsty, faint, and like they were trapped in a sauna.

I don’t really feel the heat too much it’s rather strange. I must have a way of just dealing with it. I don’t sweat either - which isn’t good - but I don’t sit out in it either.
If I’m on holiday I spend most of my time in the water.

Excessive heat makes me feel physically ill and completely knackered. I do have low blood pressure, which might have something to do with it.

The last few days have been awful! It started to rain a little while ago so I sat outside with a cup of tea. I wish it would rain again.

Lol, we did that tonight. We went out for a meal but it was unbearably hot and crowded inside, no food served outside, so we only stayed an hour or so.
Came home, sat out drinking coffee and playing tunes, and it started raining. We just sat there, getting wet, watching the bats flying about......it was still over 30c at 10pm.

For me, it's the equivalent of being snowed in. If I go out I'm hit by a wall of heat so I retreat back inside. I'm so relieved that I didn't have to work this week - I'm not sure I would have survived!
Apparently, Mr Corbyn would introduce laws about working in heat above 30 degrees, so that could be a vote winner for him.

Corbyn will say anything to get people to support him, can you imagine the state of the UK if the country stopped working because everytime we had a mini heatwave everyone was allowed to go home and enjoy/endure the sun.
You are not on your own....I think I am the only person I know who is enjoying the heat, and I am sleeping better than I normally do too.
Downside is my hair is so curly with the humidity I cant bloody control it.

Don't mention hair! Mine goes flat and just icky. That's enough reason to dislike this heat.

Re: It's such a perfect day...
I spoke too soon, I think this has to be one of the wettest summers we have ever had.
Apart from the evacuation of Whalley Bridge and the floods which some people are still suffering from, it's just been one damp squid of a summer.
We had the mini extreme heatwave weeks ago....and sadly, apart from maybe 3 or 4 nice summer days, that has been it.
