Brexit
They were told it would happen, but they just would not listen.

Re: Brexit
There are lots of consequences of iso-nationalism. Generally, prices will rise, unemployment will go up, and even if it doesn't, wages will stagnate.
Of course, your stock market will fall as your local markets adjust, at best, and more likely, simply disappear for lack of participation.
What those who favor isolation don't realize is, they are buying from off-shore markets every time they go grocery shopping. You can put the UK in a bad position vis-a-vis the world markets, but the markets won't go away as long as you shop.
All you are doing by turning your back on world markets is worsening your own position. A world market is too big to care.

Re: Brexit
How many people are employed in this place that is planned for closure?
And given that only 15% of the stuff they produce is actually going to UK buyers... and that it is much more profitable for this company to move production abroad where costs of production ie costs of labour/wages/premises/bureaucracy etc are much cheaper and that their relocation to mean production is nearer to majority of buyers so as to reduce distance in transportation of their products to these buyers, which means they are reducing their 'carbon footprint' in reducing the amount of fuel used in shipping etc, for doing their bit against 'climate change' etc... then it strikes me that this is absolutely nothing to do with Brexit... except for this German company making out it is, for the purpose of political posturing...!

Re: Brexit
It's still more profitable to move the production facilities abroad. That doesn't change.
