Democrats not in agreement over best way to buy black votes.
A new 2020 litmus test has arrived for Democrats running for president: Do they support reparations?
It marks a turn in a primary contest in which black voters are expected to play a significant role. That the attention to reparations has become so prominent speaks to a series of changes that have occurred in recent years — namely, the increased academic understanding of and public attention to the ways a history of slavery and discrimination has fueled disparities like the racial wealth gap, which shows that the median white household is 10 times wealthier than the median black one.
These changes, coupled with a wave of grassroots activism around racial inequality and economic injustice, have helped produce a shift in mainstream attention to reparations. That attention intensified after some 2020 Democratic candidates commented on reparations to the New York Times and the Washington Post last month.
So far, a handful of candidates have expressed some level of support for reparations: Sens. Kamala Harris (D-CA) and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro have called the issue important or acknowledged how history supports calls for restitution.
Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) has been running on a policy that would help close the racial wealth gap, while Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has declined to support reparations but argues that his focus on policies helping distressed communities in general would particularly aid black communities.

Has America done enough for the descendants of slaves and black folks in general? We have had a slew of programs centered around helping minorities. My general feeling is that treating people differently doesnt help and can be harmful.
But people like to remind me that I'm a white, male, cis gendered redneck from Texas and of course I would feel that way.

Absolutely. Banks should be just as generous to blacks as they are to whites; employers should hire blacks with the same qualifications as whites, and the justice system should sentence blacks and whites to the same prison terms for the same crimes.
Right now these three very important institutions favor whites over blacks in America. Not to mention how unfair it is to expect a child brought up in shitty inner-city schools to perform as well as children brought up in wealthy suburbs.

The best way to “buy” a vote is to have good policies, be honest and stick to your word.

All my clients are banks. They don't care about any color except green.
The employers are often a little more leery of blacks, as they can be harder to get rid of then a white employer. Also, I'm not really sure the facts back up your claims in terms of employment.
The legal system is more of a problem about money. You will serve less time if you can write bigger checks.
But more importantly, do you believe in paying reparations?

Unfortunately, that is not remotely true. People will tolerate all sorts of dishonesty in politicians.
Besides, what does "good" mean?
