Soaring numbers of parents are being attacked by their own children with daughters among the biggest rise in recorded parental abuse

Soaring numbers of parents are being violently attacked by their own children, shocking figures show. A massive 23,000 incidents of parental abuse were recorded in London alone over the past three years.

The biggest rise has been among daughters accused of assaulting or ill-treating their mothers or fathers. And Scotland Yard fears the harrowing crime will become even more common as pensioners live longer, often suffering from dementia, in the same homes as their offspring.

Last night, Susan Hall, a Conservative member of London’s Police and Crime Committee, told The Mail on Sunday: ‘Clearly the Mayor’s crime epidemic has now reached into people’s homes, with this surge in parental abuse coming off the back of stratospheric crime levels in the capital.

‘Too many Londoners feel they can turn to violence in Sadiq Khan’s lawless London – even when their own parents are the target of these heinous crimes.’

She added: ‘It is entirely possible that the Mayor’s abject failure to build enough homes has also contributed to this surge in violent crime, with young people living at home longer and often in pressurised, overcrowded conditions.’

In a major report, the Metropolitan Police listed parental abuse as an area of ‘emerging demand’ where it is keen for victims to come forward. It said: ‘Domestic abuse where the victim is a parent of the suspect has increased by 66 per cent between 2012 and 2015.

I think there is a far more too all of this and what we are seeing is the effects of mollycoddling children and social media over a number of years. With a growing view of self entittlement by a number of people including children. Its not happenning to other members in some of these situations in the same family. What is surprising to me, is the number of girls that have become agressive and even violent within this. So to me, is again social media playing a major part here. A lack of respect being taught and bending over backwards to a childs every whim. 

It also seems to be happenning in high crime areas and poor living standards. Which that part is down to Sadiq to sort out

More study needs to be looked at within this to find the causes Sexy

Personally I feel punishments are not long and hard enough in this country tbh.

We need to go hard on these acts and any other kind of abuse.

Doesn't surprise me.  
Alzheimer sufferers and very frail people need as much care and attention as babies. (It's not called 'the 2nd childhood' for nothing.) Except that they are a bigger, less cuddly version of a baby.


And just like some babies get mistreated (sadly) ….  these frail people can get mistreated too.

I agree. Though I certainly don’t think we should actually hit children we are definitely becoming a society of spoiling them and wrapping them in cotton wool.
