Who should be speaker of the house amd deputy speaker?...
I shall appoint a speaker of the house...
Order, order..
Things often get a bit heated, especially on political matters, there are some who seem to think England pay for Scots free prescriptions and most of Scots Students Uni fees, as Irn, Sassy amd myself have already said on more than one occasion, those are funded from Scotland's own share of the UK take.
Now, I shall draw up ten candidates as speaker of this house, in an attempt to restore calm amd order when things get too heated, most votes will win, second most will be deputy speaker...should those candidates accept that position.
The Deputy speaker will have control of keeping the peace in the abscence of the speaker of the house.
This poll shall run for 2 days and should nobody vote, I shall appoint one of those candidates myself.
Any future Speaker of the House, should not be biased and will be there to help restore order, but they are free to briefly give their account on the subject being discussed , but no more than that and must still be there firstly to restore order and to see that all sides are heard fair and square.
If anyone has two accounts they should only vote with only one of those accounts.
This of course can only go ahead with the permission of Ben, I have only set the wheels in motion.
Thank you.
Regards, JD

I think Bercow is a very good speaker of the house, of course, some obnoxious, self important RW don't like him just because he is Labour JD.

I would say John Berk and his wife are definitely left wing, like most of the modern day Conservative Party.

I dunno much about here other Phil, just what I heard on telly, so had Bercow become a Labour MP?, I thought if there was a defection ,mot was from Labour to the Tories?
I've known him a while to be Conservative, so he is a Labour MO now?
I know he is known for his apparently likeness for Labour, but thought he was still Tory ?

He was a somewhat "awkward squad" Tory MP who got the job only because of Labour votes. His wife, who appears to be the strong character of the household, is a staunch Labour supporter and would-be Labour candidate.
Draw your own conclusions.

He is still a Tory MP Ed, and he still has many of the views and traits of a Tory, if he did not believe in many Tory policies he surely would not remain a Tory MP.

I think the opposite Phil, and I think at things like PM's questions, he seems to favour the right , often letting them speak more, things like that, his bias does jump out at me.

It was a classic! He gave Gove a well deserved lashing, for shouting out during PMQ's last week, told him that he should write lines!

OK, which joker voted for me??!!
Although checking out the job description........
"The Speaker presides over the House's debates, determining which members may speak. The Speaker is also responsible for maintaining order during debate, and may punish members who break the rules of the House."
Now, where did I leave that whip?

He was elected mainly by Labour votes as a spoiler to wreck the chances of the Tory Speaker candidate to replace, I think, Labour's Mick Martin.
He's something of a renegade and unpopular among many if not most Tory MPs, but he occupies a pretty safe seat and probably knows that if he stood for Labour he'd have a problem being elected even in Barnsley!
Personally I think he's a total Dickhead; Mr Speaker Lenthall must be spinning in his grave...
