Kind strangers set up fundraising page to buy elderly woman an electric wheelchair after heartbreaking video of her struggling with a Zimmer frame is shared online
This is the heartbreaking video that prompted a group of kind strangers to set up a fundraising page to buy an elderly woman a mobility scooter.
The pensioner, known only as Molly, is seen in the footage struggling with a walking frame and admits she can't afford the scooter.
Alan Bas - who took the video - spotted the pensioner and stopped to check she was alright.
He said says he was saddened that the OAP was having such a tough time getting around after she told him she was too poor to buy the gizmo.
Molly said she had worked until she was 71 but didn't have the cash to buy an electric chair.
The footage, filmed by passer-by Mr Bas, shows the old woman with her walking frame talking about the small allowances given to her by the government.
Can you get a mobility scooter on the NHS? How pensioners are having to appeal to charities instead
Mobility scooters aren't generally available on the NHS.
Instead, those struggling to buy one can appeal to a charity for a grant.
Better Mobility has a list of charities that can help pay towards a scooter.
While the Motability Scheme can help if you want to hire or buy a mobility scooter.
It allows some people to use their benefits to pay for one.
Mobility scooters range in price from £400 to more than £5,000.

People can be so kind sometimes....sadly most of them dont work for the government.
For a lady who has worked hard all her life to end up expected to live on £174pw, especially when she is disabled is disgraceful.

These are the forgotten people. The elderly often get forgotten in the political stampede of all the other matters that leave them behind. It's a bloody disgrace that someone who's lived through a world war, worked all her life, and paid taxes all her life, has ended up like this. When you think that the City of London wasted £2.5m on fucking fireworks, the thousands upon thousands spent on that tosser, Anjem Choudary and his ilk, and all that lottery money funding?
It's enough to make your blood boil
