Come off it Keira, you’re the ultimate Cinderella! JAN MOIR says actress Knightley banning her children from watching Disney films is ironic

Keira Knightley says she won’t let her daughter watch Cinderella and certain other Disney films as they are not feminist enough and don’t feature strong female characters.

Many mothers might not allow their daughters to watch some Keira Knightley films for exactly the same reason. I mean, come on, sisters.

Let’s not forget that in Love Actually — a straightforward reworking of the Cinderella fairy tale, in which tea lady Martine McCutcheon falls in love with prime minister Hugh Grant — Keira stars as Juliet, the gorgeous, but drippy, bride whose sole purpose in the film is to hold the male gaze and be super-nice to her stalker.

What a hypocrite. In a film version of King Arthur, Keira stars as a plucky Guinevere (wearing little more than two straps of leather on her top half), yet her good deeds are drowned in a sea of armour-clanking machismo by Lancelot and all of his swashbuckling pals.

Cinderella is full of strong female characters.
The two ugly sisters rule the roost, and Cinderella gets to go to the coveted ball and bags herself not only a pair of designer shoes...but also a prince in the process.

I just came back from the hairdressers Didge. My stylist, a lovely gay man, was in raptures because as he was cutting my hair he had a delivery of a bag he had ordered from America. He opened it and it was a huge leather holdall with a colourful  embroidered pic of Disneys Little Mermaid on the front....apparently he has always been obsessed with her.

A lot of those recent "me too" pseudo-feminists and neo-feminists hitting the headlines recently are turning out to be nothing more than a mob of overpaid and underworked empty-headed spoilt brats, with obviously far too much spare time on their hands...

Doing more harm than good to genuine feminist ideals..

Rather than pushing for equality, 'equal pay for equal work' (especially in developing economies..), recognition for real world contributions, even gaining the vote and various freedoms for those in many oppressed countries and situations -- instead we see increasing numbers of noisy and vacuous actresses and singers looking to draw more attention to themseves.
