Christmas Commercials
Yuletide ads from the various chainstore giants are a collector's item. Customers are charmed by the nostalgic themes and cutesy factor. Which is the whole idea. Looking forward to seeing the offerings from M&S, Asda, etc.
There is an outright winner each year imo.
John Lewis is a strong contender for the winner this year, no?

Re: Christmas Commercials
I also love the Christmas ads, sometimes better than the programmes they interrupt.
But....they must cost an absolute fortune to produce, and John Lewis in particular, have made some very extravagant ads....yet this year it's reported the company has shown a 99% drop in profits.
Debenhams also is in so much trouble they are reportedly closing 50 branches out of 150.
House of Frasers Kendals...an established iconic store in Manchester, is closing it's doors in January.

Re: Christmas Commercials
Yep chain stores closing down or being swallowed up in hostile takeovers by larger rivals, this is one of the reasons why these christmas ads are precious collectors' items. A staple fixture of Christmas. Been some cracking good ones down the years, disney animals gliding in the snow, etc, lurvley!Syl wrote:I also love the Christmas ads, sometimes better than the programmes they interrupt.
