What a rubbish Christmas.
I hope everyone fared better than me.
Went out Christmas eve for a lovely meal for two at nice restaurant.
Woke in the night ill....VERY ill.
I thought I had food poisoning I was so sick.....had to cancel Christmas day and OH had a sandwich for his Christmas dinner. Boxing day I always do a buffet for family.....had to cancel and son took the food back to his.
Whatever it was turned into a really bad virus, (cough, chest infection, cant eat or sleep) I still feel horrible.
But.....I have lost half a stone...every cloud.

I bought a turkey crown from M&S - tasteless and disappointing - the Aldi one is better.

It's horrible being ill over Christmas. It's been quiet for us but I'm working today and tomorrow. I'm having next week off though. From work at least. Switching my phone off.

Could have been worse. People complained that the turkeys they bought from TESCO were green in the middle after they had been cooked...

Yes, could have been - I curried the leftovers and it was even tasteless then, curry notwithstanding.

I think Turkey is pretty over rated....I buy large chicken breasts, moister, tastier, and you are not eating them for days later trying to use them all up.

My missus says she wished she bought to turkey ready meals - save a lot bother.

I didn't watch her...well I was in bed anyway.
My Mum used to love watching the Queen every Christmas day at 3pm.....she looked forward to it, then moaned about her all the way through it.

There was a real horrible one going round before Xmas - a nurse told me that they played it down so as not to scare folk - the after effects can last quite a few weeks.

The worst flu I ever had a few years ago left me with toothache and eye socket ache for weeks....that was odd.
At the moment I am concentrated on not coughing my guts up....so the later trivialities can wait.

Had a TURKEY Crown from Iceland, Christmas dinner was not too bad, but by evening it was dry and chewy. Boxing day it was cut up for Daughters dog. Last year we had a Capon,it was juicy and soft, by Boxing day evening it was still being eaten, [Dog finished it off]. My Cat will not touch Turkey or Chicken, but give him Ham and he loves it.

Thanks Miffs....well for the first time since Sunday I have been up...so that's a start.
It's a huge disappointment when all the Christmas plans are scuppered though. I am left with a fridge full of food (sellby dates are still good on some stuff) and absolutely no appetite to eat.

Cats are so fussy nowadays.
Our little adopted cat will eat turkey and chicken....only M&S wafer thin ham though...she wont eat thicker sliced, and she hates fish (every kind)...she does like a tiny bit of stilton though as a treat.

The Wife buys him those little packets of very thin sliced ham, he has one slice a day. He can be upstairs asleep on my bed yet when I get the ham out of the fridge, making no noise, he comes thundering down the stairs crying like mad.

This little cat that almost lives with us...she is female (I had no experience of female cats before her) so I wonder if anyone knows... is this normal?
She is very unaffectionate, she hates being picked up, cuddled, touched even...and she never meows, she was abused and abandoned when little, so that may account for that. The thing is, with me she will sometimes get affectionate, purring and rubbing against me, I will stroke her and she loves it.....then suddenly she turns, claws out, it's as if she resents the fact that she felt anything but disdain for me...

I doubt that is true - or at least I hope it isn't. She probably got lost or perhaps was taken in by someone - I had a friend who had 13 cats, most of whom wandered in one and day and stayed - cats can be unpredictable creatures

If she has been abused it will may take her some considerable time to feel completely secure. It's taken me 2 years to get my youngest (and previously neglected) younger dog to relax, but even now he'll turn for no apparent reason.

We have known her for about 6 years now Ziz....so I think it's just her temperament now....she also has arthritis, and the vet said that could be down to her being kicked about when young.
It's so sad when animals, like her and your dog, have been abused....like with children, some find it hard to forget.

6 years - little chance now then, though she should mellow a little with old age. Yes, they never quite forget no matter what you do.
