What a rubbish Christmas.
First topic message reminder :
I hope everyone fared better than me.
Went out Christmas eve for a lovely meal for two at nice restaurant.
Woke in the night ill....VERY ill.
I thought I had food poisoning I was so sick.....had to cancel Christmas day and OH had a sandwich for his Christmas dinner. Boxing day I always do a buffet for family.....had to cancel and son took the food back to his.
Whatever it was turned into a really bad virus, (cough, chest infection, cant eat or sleep) I still feel horrible.
But.....I have lost half a stone...every cloud.

The worst few days, I felt so bad I thought I was dying!
Still not 100% now...
Is a really nasty illness... whatever it is... wouldn't wish it on anyone!
It's always comforting to know someone has felt as rotten... I too felt like I was dying, and didn't much care at the time...I do feel a bit better today though.
Seriously, I'm glad you are over the worst of it Tommy.
Its horrible isn't it? I ended up with Pneumonia and sepsis in hospital in November. That is the worst I have ever felt in years
Glad you are feeling better too Tommy

It's like a nightmare, ending up in hospital because a virus or infection takes a hold and develops into something really serious.

Re: What a rubbish Christmas.
Starting Christmas Eve morning I had an attack of vertigo that didn't ease off until the day after boxing Day. I sat there with all the grandkids and I don't know how I got through those days, I just wanted to go to bed and lie down, And bugger me it came back this morning, so if i'v been ratty today I apologise.

Well, sorry you were all feeling so ill, but OH and I had a lovely time. Being different to anything we had done before meant I wasn't comparing it and we both got to relax and enjoy ourselves. They had The Jersey Boys show on and it was fantastic.

I Aways wanted to see the Jersey Boys, they appear quite often at the NEC witch is close to me, £25 a person including food.

I hope all you girlz are feeling better now.
I was ruff before Christmas, think I mentioned it, just shook it off in time, mine was only a medium dose I think, some I know had it really ruff.
This was my first bout of anything for a few years.
My mates wife is a lazy cow according to him, he says she feigned dose of 'flu' so she called it so he had to do all the work over Christmas, now he has it very bad, she has gone away with her sister for 3 days and left him on his own, their kids visit so they might be next..
Oh dear he is not having a good time is he

Re: What a rubbish Christmas.
This virus that's been going round is horrible, my Mum got taken to hospital with it a few weeks before Xmas, was on an antibiotic drip for nearly a week and she has the flu jab. Shes 80 next year but is fit and active, but that knocked her about.
The day after I sat in A and E all night with her, I came down with it too. I've worked through mine, little trouper that I am but still now left with a bad throat and a nasty cough

She's OK now Edds, it has scared her though. You know I get her to do a day a week in my shop, she hasn't been back since and she loves it there. I told her, you can't hang round this hospital being ill, get yourself to work, take your drip with you

There is most certainly a very nasty dose of virus/flu doing the rounds... I know all to well cos I've had it for last 2-3 weeks and still trying to shake off the last of it now!
Not had anything like it for years and years...
I reckon the 'flu jab' is causing more problems than its preventing... it's just helping create a nastier form of the virus and to spread about...

Well hopefully you will feel fully fit by new years eve....fingers crossed we all will.
Thanks harvesmom, I feel better than I did, and yes....dizzy and lightheaded plus feeling sickly all the time seems to be part of it all.
Loss of appetite is another thing...I just can't eat. Today I forced down one round of toast....then tonight a small bowl of soup, which gave me stomach ache 10 minutes later.
If older people get this virus, I can well understand how quickly they would need hospital treatment, like your mum did.

And... in my opinion... you are not 'brave' or a 'hero' for carrying on going to work while infected with a nasty virus... you are just adding to the problem by spreading it around to others... some of whom will get really ill, really suffer, and even die as a result!!!

I don't get the flu jab Tommy, but my Mum does and she got it far worse than I did. Could be her age of course.
But I remember last year she got the flu too, after the jab, and they said the flu jab covered 4 strains of flu, but not the one that she had???
Only thing is, the Doctor at the hospital did say that if she hadn't had the injection the chest infection she got would probably have turned into pneumonia, which obviously at her age would have been a real problem. But who knows, she is ill for a couple of weeks after she has the injection with mild flu symptoms, you dont really know what they are pumping into you do you.

Yesssss... in an ideal world we would all stop work and isolate ourselves when we have a virus. Fact is, its not practical is it. Even if I dont go, I could infect someone close and they could pass it on as a carrier. If we all stopped going out when we felt ill then the country would grind to a halt! We dont live in a perfect world, all I can do is carry on and carry lots of anti bacterial hand cleanser with me

Thanks Syl x Being self employed, I didnt have a choice tbh but to work through till Xmas. After New Years Eve when I have stupidly said I will have a party at mine, I shall take to my bed and recover properly for a few days Hope you are feeling better now.
Did you feel dizzy and lightheaded with yours by the way?
Well hopefully you will feel fully fit by new years eve....fingers crossed we all will.
Thanks harvesmom, I feel better than I did, and yes....dizzy and lightheaded plus feeling sickly all the time seems to be part of it all.
Loss of appetite is another thing...I just can't eat. Today I forced down one round of toast....then tonight a small bowl of soup, which gave me stomach ache 10 minutes later.
If older people get this virus, I can well understand how quickly they would need hospital treatment, like your mum did.
I havent lost my appetite, I'm hungry but when I eat I feel a bit nauseous and light headed.
Anyways, it will be gone for 2017, as you say we've had a rubbish Christmas but at least we can see the New Year in in style

They are pumping a small dose of the virus into you...!
And if you say 4 different strains of virus are being delivered protection from... then that simply means that 4 different strains of virus and being injected into you!!!
All of which will trigger an immune response from your body... all of which are putting unnecessary undue strain on the body... and may adversely weaken the immune system in such a way as to be more susceptible to a wider virus that is circulating and then to become not just a host/carrier of it but a potential cause in virus mutating to something more nasty than the flu jab strains already part exposed to...
