But I remember last year she got the flu too, after the jab, and they said the flu jab covered 4 strains of flu, but not the one that she had???

Only thing is, the Doctor at the hospital did say that if she hadn't had the injection the chest infection she got would probably have turned into pneumonia, which obviously at her age would have been a real problem. But who knows, she is ill for a couple of weeks after she has the injection with mild flu symptoms, you dont really know what they are pumping into you do you.

They are pumping a small dose of the virus into you...!

And if you say 4 different strains of virus are being delivered protection from... then that simply means that 4 different strains of virus and being injected into you!!!

All of which will trigger an immune response from your body... all of which are putting unnecessary undue strain on the body... and may adversely weaken the immune system in such a way as to be more susceptible to a wider virus that is circulating and then to become not just a host/carrier of it but a potential cause in virus mutating to something more nasty than the flu jab strains already part exposed to...

The prime reason that some people may still get a dose of influenza after getting the flu jab isn't
due to any kind of infection from dead virus matter, nor any antigens, in the vaccine --  but comes down to the fact that the vaccine is made to protect you from the 3 most common flu viruses from the previous season/ previous 6 months  --  and because flu virus populations are continually mutating, some unlucky persons will be unfortunate enough to contract one far enough removed from the mainstream, as to be outside the vaccine's range...

An unfortunate minority to be sure, but still only a very small minority..
Reactions to the vaccines may occur, but are also quite rare, when compared to the numbers successfully protected..

Still, any bad news will be a ready target for the homeopatic/quack cure industry to peddle their usual anti-vax opportunistic garbage.          What a rubbish Christmas. - Page 3 1399249160

TOMMY keeps on spouting his usual scaremongering anti-science drivel on here for the same old reasons...

Not only does he clearly know less than zero about viruses, vaccinations and immunisation..

Once again he has clearly demonstrated that he doesn't even understandmthe underlying sciences --  his climate change denialist strategies,  all over again.           jocolor

Did you feel dizzy and lightheaded with yours by the way?

I have never had the flu vaccine and I never will and nor will my children.

You do know I'm not an actual mushroom, right? Rolling Eyes

I'm serious though, I have never had a cold that's even lasted longer than a day. At most I lose my voice and get a cough that can last a while. But colds, never.
I rarely get sickness bugs either. I can have my whole house go down with a sickness bug and spend days clearing up vomit and still not get it! And if I do, I only feel sick and I never actually vomit.  Very odd. Perhaps raw mushrooms have a special immunisation power?!

Bet I get a fucking cold now I've said all that. Pffff you germy infested bunch of germ ridden people. Evil or Very Mad

Normally my stomach is pretty strong, that's why I thought the initial sickness was food poisoning, but it was the onset of whatever this virus is....it's not flu, I have had flu about 4 times in my life, and it's different.

Re the flu jab, I always had it when I was my mums carer....I never had any ill effects with it.
The last 3 or 4 years I have had it because I got a really bad bout of flu a few years ago and I was ill for so long.....couldn't face that again.
Like has been said though, the jab only protects you from 3 types of flu virus, so if another one sneaks in and grabs you.....the jab wont help at all.

Horrible, painful nasty thing is sinusitis.

Drugs companies make billions, I'm sure there are some very dodgy dealings that go on that we have no idea about.
Fact is though...I do believe the flu jab helps prevent the main flu bugs taking hold, and I don't believe it can give you the flu (though I personally know loads of people who swear that's what happened when they had it)

It's a personal choice though....and if I wasn't susceptible to being floored by the flu I doubt I would have it myself.

Regarding the flu vaccine, during cold and flu season I'm spending six to seven hours a week in stadiums or gymnasiums full of kids -- no way am I not getting vaccinated.

I've never had a flu jab either, although I've been advised to. I dunno - so many people have said they felt quite ill afterwards, and that can't be a coincidence. It's hard to tell the difference between flu and a bad cold sometimes, but usually when people say they have flu, they actually have a cold.

Regarding the flu vaccine, during cold and flu season I'm spending six to seven hours a week in stadiums or gymnasiums full of kids -- no way am I not getting vaccinated.

Well mine wasn't greatly appreciated as you gave me nuffink...and I work really hard.....
Well I work, anyway. Whatever.

I would probably attribute your resistance to a strong immune system,  and possibly an inherited/genetic  "natural resistance" to flu viruses  ?

Often the kind of person the immunologists will look to, to study (and maybe use..) their antibodies and immune reactions, during severe outbreaks.

I rarely get the flu (maybe once every 10 years or so..),  but when I do it can often be a doosie..

The only time I got a flu jab was during a uni' trial back in the late '80s/early 90s...
I would consider it if I were a nurse, teacher, in retail, or in the emergency services ( along with Hep A and B shots..), along with the regular vaccinations..

I actually have an auto-immune disease wolf actually, it's called Grave's Disease, it's a thyroid condition. Don't know if that makes any difference to anything?
My mum has had the flu but neither myself nor mr brothers have, yet all us three siblings have had glandular fever at seperate times of our lives?

Interesting question. Autoimmune diseases are generally quite specific, so is it likely that an overactive immune system in one area could afford some protection against infections? Of course, it would depend if one takes drugs to suppress the immune system in order to control the autoimmune disease. In fact, those on such drugs are advised to have the flu jab.

Once again he has clearly demonstrated that he doesn't even understandmthe underlying sciences --  his climate change denialist strategies,  all over again.           jocolor

Don't be too quick to dismiss what Tommy said. There are studies being conducted in this area to see if the flu vaccine can make someone susceptible to other infections.

I'm in remission rags so I'm not on medication at the moment. I won't have the flu jab as I think it's unnecessary. I dislike taking any tablets TBH and often only take half the advised amount of thyroid drug when I'm given it (as needed).
Guess what? They say "one tablet twice a day and see you in three months for a blood test we are hoping you'll be off the meds in a bout nine months"
I take one a day and have my blood test and the the medication is still working and I'm off the meds in nine months on half of what was suggested.
It's worked both times.
I don't ever take recommended amounts of what I'm supposed to. I'd rather start on less. It's always worked for me.

Idea

Re:  negative reactions to vaccinnations, in general --

Another possible angle to consider...

In Japan several years ago, there were thousands of cases of clusters of bad rections to a standard MMR injection..

The culprit in that case wasn't the dead virus particles in the shot --  but the fact that carrier solution contained high levels of heavy metals, particularly Mercury -- and yet had still been okay'ed by the health ministry  !!!

Effectively, those sick people were suffering from mercury poisoning..

Maybe something else in some vaccinations -- apart from/besides the virus itself --  is poisoning/depressing some people's immune systems ???       Suspect

Once again the free-market system leaves its imprint. It comes from pharma's being motivated, not by keeping their eyes on their job, but by the distraction of profit.

Just as with the military, there should be no private hands in the healthcare industry.
