The Tyranny of a Minority - BIOLOGICAL MALE WINS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN WOMEN’S CYCLING

A biological male who identifies as a transgender woman won a women’s world championship cycling event on Sunday.

Rachel McKinnon, a professor at the College of Charleston, won the women’s sprint 35-39 age bracket at the 2018 UCI Masters Track Cycling World Championships in Los Angeles. McKinnon, representing Canada, bested Carolien Van Herrikhuyzen of the Netherlands and American cyclist Jennifer Wagner to take home the gold.

McKinnon celebrated the victory on Twitter, writing: “First transgender woman world champion…ever.”



Allowing biological males who identify as transgender women to compete in women’s athletic events has been a controversial subject, as critics have argued that it puts the female competitors at an inherent disadvantage.

McKinnon did not immediately return an email seeking comment for this article.

McKinnon in January was quoted in USA Today arguing against requiring biological males to suppress testosterone as a requirement for competing against women. (RELATED: High-School Boy Wins All-State Honors In Girls Track And Field)

“We cannot have a woman legally recognized as a trans woman in society, and not be recognized that way in sports,” McKinnon told USA Today.

Its simple astounding that this can happen, where women are clearly going to be disavantaged within sports. Even more when there is no restriction on testostrone or a requirment that such transgender women, need have operations.

The tyranny of a minority, trumping the rights of biological women in sports. Which is only going to lead to more male atheletes declaring a change in sex. In order to win competitions.

They only fair way to resolve this and thus ensure also rights for Trans people. Is to create a third category. Or have a restriction on testostrone with post operation to make this fair to all competiting.

That you have male, female and trans.

Thus trans men, compete and against trans men. Trans women compete against trans women. 

Nobody would allow an able body person to compete against someone disabled, so why here with trans women?

Hence this is pure madness by the sports industry. Where clearly those Trans born biologically men, not restricting their testostrone levels. Have a clear and distinctive advantage over biological women.

Nobody should have their rights trumped, but again we see women, have their rights trumped by trans people within sports.

The lady who came in third, very much felt aggreived over this trans person being allowed to participate.

This is a case of a difficult side effect. I absolutely support the rights of trans people to be who they want to be, but there is a CLEAR issue of unfairness here. Trans women certainly should not be allowed to compete against biological women. Perhaps another category is one idea, but how much do we really need to set up a whole extra set of contests for maybe one or two competitors? Honestly, I think if you are trans maybe the only fair option is give up ideas of competiting at all OR accept that categories are set based on biological sex?

It also has to be remembered that it is the "UCI 'Masters' World Championship"...

A 3rd- rate Mickey Mouse competition that hands out hundreds of pseudo-"world" chamlionships across a wide range of age-groups from 45-years-old upwards --  the kind of "competion" where virtually anybody can earn a medal by selectively targeting the right classification and age-group..

That UCI mob have done themselves no favours by recognising a biological male beating out females --  what would be a much bigger worry would be if any of the top-level international amateur, professional or Olympic federations were to officially recognise this farce..

The UCI has further demoted itself through this nonsense, dropping from being a second-string 'cycling association to a probable laughing stock among sporting bodies.

Well this kind of thing was always going to happen.
Perhaps trans people should only compete in the events as the sex they were born as? Or maybe, one day, there will be enough trans people globally that they can make their own teams and categories in sports?

It’s a tough one. I feel sorry for these people actually. Feeling as though you’ve been born into the wrong body and never fitting in, then having all that hardship of a sex change only to still not fit in.

Yeah, really is a no win situation. Sounds brutal to say 'that's life' but it kind of is. There are things everyone simply can't do or won't have to do in life. Perhaps mainstream competitive sports is just something trans people have to accept is inaccessible to them

I'll tell you whats harsh, the worlds going to hell in a hand cart pandering to these "minorities" blokes "thinking" they are women demanding the right to use female toilets etc, or whats worse demanding the toilets all become "unisex" just to cover their insignificant (in numbers terms) problems.....whats worse their "problem doesnt even exist...I mean...ok you MIGHT be a bloke who thinks like a woman...and "feels" like a woman (hows that work?) If a person looks, walks, talks and acts like a woman, then goes into the gents for a piss because some people believe the ONLY thing that matters in the cock and balls, that person is likely putting themselves in danger. I agree sometimes the demands of minorities are OTT. The OP is a case in point. But letting trans women use ladies toilets is not one of them.

And wishing (even in jest) wanton destruction on the world is a bit of an over reaction, isn't it? There are MANY problems in the world today. Political correctness can be taken too far at times but it is surely FAR from the one problem that merits complete despair at humanity at large. Still better to live in the UK, US, Canada or any of the other 'hellholes' that practice PC than places like Saudi Arabia, North Korea, China and so on.

Just pointing out, our problems are relatively minor, to the point of trivial tbh.

maybe, to satisfy the trans community......we should provide specialised trans loos with a "radar key" which to obtain you would need to be a registered trans person, but then that wouldnt suit would it (even though if you are disabled thats EXACTLY what happens)

Not so much a level playing field as a . . . . slippery slope.
There was one chap who swapped his gender and demanded the earlier retirement age that females got 
- and he won his case in court!

Reading Vic's arguments, this is a classic case ripe for proportional equality.  We tend to think of equality as simply equal distribution (of anything) at any given point (called: distributive equality).  As to comparative advantages or limitations, conservatives tend to say 'tough nuts' and liberals are wont to say 'give 'em more to make up for it'.

Proportional equality recognizes that any distribution is unequal, and so we make up for it at the starting line.  Simply put, we change the competition.  Paralymbics is a classic example.  They have their own games, reflecting the excellence they can achieve given that they have limitations. Indeed, isn't that what we do in splitting men and women in tennis, basketball, or track?  If it is a matter of advantages (as in this case), not limitations, do the same.  At some point it is ridiculous to pretend that they are co-equal contestants.
