New centre party
Lots of talk of a formation of a new centre ground party, formulating around the Lib Debs, but also recruiting the moderate wing of the Labour party and the wets from the Conserative party.
Regardless of who is leader, and who would form it's 'front bench', would it garner much support nationally, but from this forum's perspective, would it get much support here?
Clearly, policy would be paramount, but it would strongly support the NHS, be pro soft Brexit, strong immigration policy, would investigate ways of nationalising certain industies, expecially those presently foreign owned, such as Gas, Electricity, rail, water.
It would boost police numbers and end austerity, be pro business and low taxes.
Let's call it the NEW FIX party, and get some more policy .

Depends on when they actually announce their policies Andy, but if good, they will certainly get my vote
They could very much draw away many center leaning Tories and Labour voters. Which could in fact mean having 3 major political parties again, but none having a majority
Maybe that is what this country needs, as the two main parties I think take people for granted with support.
Unlikely, but maybe they could win an election
We do need some new blood, where its a party, that actually is for the people

I would consider voting Labour if Corbin and McDonald and the other far left nutters were given the Boot !

I think Corbyns days are numbered. There are moves on going to oust him.

I disagree and think he will not budge and he has the backing of the majority of labour membership, not thoug the majority of Labour supporters
It was a clever tactic by the far left to bascially all become members of labour, as they are now basically calling the shots
I see two possible scenarios here
One, Labour could end up being finished as a political party like the Liberals, if he does not step down and ends up in power, Being as he would bring about economic ruin. Or he does step down and Labour would win a landslide election with someone Chuka Umunna as PM

Re: New centre party
My guess is that the latter will happen. For all their faults, Labour have a good number of talented politicians. They would form.a strong cabinet

i agree they have some great politicians I really respect, but the reality is here. That now Labour membership has a majority of the far left. Its why Corbyn is still leader

I think it sounds like a pretty decent idea. I’ve always voted Lib Dem’s but I wasn’t too keen on Tim Fallon.
Good thread by you Andy.

But under a more centrist leader, who would embrace moderates from other parties, they would return, with interest.

And I hope he takes that Mad Marxist McDonnell and that utterly dopey bird Abbott with him.
There is a lot of talent on the Labour benches, and it would be augmented considerably by the excellent Barnsley MP Dan Jarvis.
