  • Jenny Satchell was 13 years old when she became pregnant after being raped

  • Her mother arranged for her to go to a home for unmarried mothers and babies

  • MPs have called for a Parliamentary debate on women forced to give up babies

  • It is thought half a million newborns were taken from young unmarried women in the 1950s and 1960s

Idea

The British gov't refuse to consider apologising for invading Ireland 400 years ago...

The British gov't refuses to consider reparations for all of those crimes against indigenous folks (such as: theft, slavery, grave robbing, rape, murder, attempted genocide..) out in the assorted colonies between 300 and 100 years ago..

Debates over both intitutionalised child abuse (especially within the Anglican Church..);  and the topic of thousands of stolen British children sent out to Canada, Oz and NZ during WWII;  are consistently being blocked within the British Parliament..

All things considered, the subject of institutional abuses against single mums in the Old Blighty really doesn't have a hope in hell of getting too far in the British parliament, does it ?

Unless, of course, it sees an apology there as a good chance to deflect attention away from even more serious historical abuses, across the board..
