Strict gun control laws here don't prevent criminals getting guns and shooting people... it just means that only the criminals have guns... while the rest of us, the overwhelming vast majority of law abiding citizens here, are denied the ability to protect/defend ourselves properly...

You want to loosen gun controls, based on a crime spree in London, where the vast majority of victims have been stabbed to death? By going on about being denied guns to protect yourself

There is a growing problem with a type of music and these gangs, that get a kick out of killing and its up to the Police to get to grips with this. Not allowing unhinged paranoid loons to carry guns claiming in self defense on our streets.

I back sensible people like Lord Foul and Nicko to have gun licenses, because they respect the gun and even more importantly, know how to use it.

So thank goodness, the vast majority of people are denied guns, because we dont want to end up like the US and have thousands of gun deaths each year

The law abiding obey these laws... while the criminals do what they want because the police have their hands tied by political correctness... and even those who are actually found to be carrying knives are let off instead of being banged up in prison for 6 months, as they should be!!!

Criminals have always done what they have wanted throughout English and British history. Its not something new and we have seen spates of murder and crime consistantly in London's history.

6 months for carrying a knife, when that person could stupidly carrying this for protection?

We should look to places like Holland, as many of their prisons are closing down. Due to better systems, that they have.

Locking people up all the time Tommy, for what you view as a crime, is never the answer

Again and again I tell you what is the major problem, relative poverty and here this has diverged through a new trend of hate music through gangs to commit murder. So it means tackling this with new methods.

What we need to do is combat why people are carrying weapons in the first place and locking them up is never the answer. You tackle the ideology, which is the problem.

But how are police able to patrol/enforce this law, if they are not able to 'stop & search' the people who are most likely carrying the knives...?


By the way... 'carrying for own protection' is no more valid excuse for knives than it is for any other prohibited weapon... inc guns...!!!


But you seem to be suggesting that 'carrying for own protection' is a valid reason for carrying an illegal weapon (knife)... after you just tried arguing against people carrying a legally held gun for their 'own protection'...!?

"Machine gun" attack  !!!

Fucking bullshit, there was...

One woman reported a "machine gun" (being pointed out a car window, no less);  whereas other witnesses had reported sounds of "semi-automatic" gunfire  --  much more likely, as very few crim's and gangs would be carting genuine M-60 and Bren gun size fully-automatic weapons with them, (just think of Stallone in the first Rambo movie, holding that M-60(?) under his arm..).

Much, much more likely is that they were using macine pistols, sub-machine guns, or auto-reloading pistols like Glocks or Sigs..

And, just imagine the damage that you could do, opening fire with a full-on M-60-sized machine gun in a surban or city street --  that could bring a new meaning to "urban terrorism".

The phrase "machine gun attack" certainly makes for more dramatic headlines, though  !
