[*]Detectives created a profile from crime scene DNA and compared it against 189,000 others on YSearch.org
[*]Free site lets amateur genealogists upload their own profile and then compare it with others to find relatives
[*]Investigators found a genetic match with an extremely ill 72-year-old man living in an Oregon nursing home
[*]They received permission from a judge to allow them to harvest DNA from the man while he was lying in bed
[*]Officers did not inform his daughter but she then helped them rule out other people who had similar genes
[*]Investigators used same technique to find who they say is the real killer: 72-year-old ex-cop Joseph DeAngelo
