Brides letter to her grooms ex girlfriend.
A bride to be, obviously still smarting that her husband to be didn't take her to the prom and do all the things high school sweethearts get to do, wrote this gloating open letter to his ex girlfriend....its gone viral.
People are telling him to run for his life.
THE BRIDE'S LETTER IN FULL
"High school seems like the best time of your life when you are in it. You think that all of your friends will be with you until the end, and that you will end up with whoever you are dating your senior year. For very few, that might just be the case. For all others, that is far from true.
You thought that you would marry your boyfriend and you thought that everything would work out how you had always imagined. I don't blame you though. He's great. You wanted everything with him, but you were just not right for him.
I wish I could say that I am sorry it didn't work out for you, but I can't. I can't because he is mine now, and I get to cherish him forever. You didn't do that right, and you were not meant to be together. You will find someone too, but I am happy that you were not the one for him.
Sometimes I have issues with jealousy, and I hate that you got all of the high school stuff with him. You got to go to games and support him. It kills me that I couldn't be there for him because I know I would have actually been there wholeheartedly. I would have done it out of love, not as a popularity appearance
.
I hate that you got to go to all of the school dances with him. He got to see you all dressed up and probably told you how great you looked. I'm sure you did look great. Prom dresses were always fun to pick out and so colorful. It was exciting to match colors with your date. I am sure you had fun choosing his matching tux to your dress.
I find myself getting jealous, but then I stop. I am getting to match his tux with our wedding colors. I got to go dress shopping in a sea of white, and he doesn't get to know one detail about that dress yet. He will get to see me walk down the aisle and then every day forever. I get to love him forever.
I try to not get jealous of all of the things you got with him because it is all in the past. You had your time, and now I get the wedding. You got to dress up in high school, but I get to dress up for my wedding with him. He may have put a corsage on your wrist, but he will be putting the wedding ring on my finger."

Wow. While I agree with her sentiment, I wonder why this was written. Sounds almost like she's the one with the demons.

I agree run for the hills mate, she's going to be hell to live with, one slip of attention on his part and she's going to get mad, then jealous and maybe even controlling and obsessive and maybe turn into the Cathy Bates character in Misery.
That's a weird letter to write.

I cant agree with her sentiment.
She sounds quite obsessive and possesive, gloating over her success, whilst probably the girl he took to the prom is just getting on with her own life.
She is definately the one with the demons.

The man should get away from her while he can.
She's jealous, spiteful, demented, and hates the fact her boyfriend has a past.

My first reaction was the same, but it needs to be put into context.

Same thing really, why would she think of a character like this unless she knows someone like it or its how she feels herself, it has to come from somewhere.

I doubt that tbh.
Her open letter has received a lot of criticism, she could be back tracking.
Why didn't she make it clear it was a fictional account of how a woman may feel? She wrote it as if it was a factual account of how she feels, and as its a small place where she comes from everyone knows the girl it was aimed at, the one who had the prom date with her groom to be.
Also, apparently that is her and her boyfriend in the photo that's attached to the article.
Doesn't sound like a detached piece of writing she submitted to meet a deadline to me.

I think 'demented' is going a bit far.
She certainly sounds tormented...by the fact that her boyfriend obviously preferred someone else back when they went to the prom.

Re: Brides letter to her grooms ex girlfriend.
One of the comments written under Victoria Higgins denial that the article she wrote was about her own situation.
"Wait... that picture is actually him proposing to her, his face in full view and hers hidden?? Why would she ever provide this photo for this story??? I thought it was stock... oh boy."
COURTESY OF VICTORIA HIGGINS

Re: Brides letter to her grooms ex girlfriend.
She sounds like she has really bad security issues.
She’s going to diet for years and when they inevitably have children she’ll be even more insecure.
Relationship doomed.

[*]Victoria Higgins, 22, spoke to DailyMail.com about the reaction to her article
[*]On March 28, it was published by Missouri State University's student newspaper
[*]It was titled: 'You May Have Worn The Prom Dress With Him, But I Get To Wear The Wedding Dress
[*]Critics called her 'scary', a 'psycho' and told her fiance,'run for your life'
[*]Higgins, who is studying event management, said she was misunderstood
[*]Since it was published, she has been told to 'check into a psych ward' by trolls
[*]Her 19-year-old fiance Brandon has received cruel messages too, she said
[*]The pair are now afraid to walk around campus because of the intense reaction

Re: Brides letter to her grooms ex girlfriend.
Well no one deserves the sort of abuse she has recieved, its totally out of order, she hasnt murdered anyone for Gods sake.
One of the downsides of the internet, giving trolls free reign to abuse and threaten anyone they deem 'deserves' it.

I seriously dispair at how people have become so hateful on the internet
What she wrote was very immature and more born from a view of years of frustration. Sitting in the shadows of someone she truley loved. It was dumb what she wrote and again born from insecurities, but did she deserve tge response?
No way
So agree with you Syl

Yes....I agree with you too.
The answer is not to play your private life out on the internet, but then, in a way, you are letting the trolls win.
Everyone is judge and jury without leaving their arm chairs nowadays...I guess we are all guilty of that.
But normal people dont resort to threats and nasty abuse, and thats the difference.

There is nothing wrong with criticism, but when its spiteful and vicious. Then you know those doing this, are actually no more than hateful people, hiding behind a wall, where they remain unchallenged by such hateful views.
It shows that humanity is losing the ability to communicate and instead use technology, to attack people in the most appalling manner.
This girl was clearly in the shadows for years of this other girl and stupidly took her happiness to a another level, by expressing this openly. Clearly never understanding how people would react.
I seriously think some people get off on how hateful they can be. She was not hateful, just naive.

She did gloat, and it certainly wasnt kind to the girl she was aiming her comments at.
It didnt help that she then tried to backtrack and say it wasnt personal, when it certainly seemed to be.
You look beyond all that and see the girl who was once on the outside looking in
Thats nice.x

Thanks Syl
I try to look at this from a postion of empathic intelligence.
The girl badly gloated and I do not think from a position of spite, but more of a position of years of frustration. Wanting something, that seemed beyond reach for years. When she obtained that love finally through the proposal of marriage. All those emotions, just spilled out and poorly, in all the wrong ways. I am sure she now regrets her stupid outburst, but neither deserve what has since happened to them. With the Mail printing this story. They hold some responsibility for this too. As they knew it would cause people to react. Hence to me, the Mail was irresponsible posting this story.

Though to be fair they are a day or so behind other papers who posted it yesterday.....but the Mail always puts their own spin on things.
I do often think, if a forum needs a story to get peoples hackles up, the Daily Mail is often the place to look.

I feel the same. One of the things that appears lost in the Internet is proportionality. She may have attitude issues, but she has harmed no one. The response, if as described, has been disproportionate.
