Have Windows 10 as well, have to say, never had a problem. Have you tried looking at your computer settings?

I have had Windows 10 for a couple of years Sassy....I get problems when it updates itself (this time it took literally hours) I have no idea how to stop the updates, the latest version is windows 10.. 1709.....and this is what has messed the C&P function up.

Re: Help...windows 10.
you can't stop the updates in windows 10 'home' edition
I recommend Manually running any other updates it has in Windows updater, and like it says just reboot it a couple more times for fun
It shouldn't require multiple reboots to make work, so *something* behind the scenes started working, but I cannot say what it was.
So for anyone else that is having the problem
1) Driver Updates
2) Windows Trouble Shooter
3) Reboot a few times
4) Good night's sleep
5) Reboot again
Viola! It works!

I can think of better ways to have fun, especially at 1.10 am......but thanks for trying Veya...maybe after a good nights sleep it will miraculously be working again in the morning.

Re: Help...windows 10.
Yey...
I uninstalled the latest update and went back to previous version.
If anyone else is using windows 10 they may have the same problem next time it upgrades itself ....according to google many people have.

Re: Help...windows 10.
I have got used to W 10 Mags.....its just a pain when it does these huge updates....it literally took hours, then it got to 49% and stuck, message said restart computer to finish the update, I restarted and it went back to 0%....all in all it took almost 2 days to complete.
I could still use the comp but it was SO slow I didn't bother much.
Then when it had finished, I couldn't C&P, which is what I do a lot.
Loads of people have the same problem when Windows 10 updates itself.

You’re really very grumpily horrid when you have technical issues, Syl.
I suggest a large glass of wine.

Later.
Anyone would be grumpy if they were me....Windows just told me they were going to start the download again, not to turn my computer off....then it promptly froze.
I did that emergency shut down thing and got back online....but I know its still lurking.

Re: Help...windows 10.
'Puters are as temperamental as humans, it seems. I've had spells when I cannot upload images from my PC unto websites. And sometimes Microsoft Paint (unfairly underrated by snobs) icons vanish. And oftentimes my antivirus app blocks perfectly safe sites.
After a few days it's all suddenly OK again, without any intervention from me. Weird!

IE is spectacularly poor. I give it 10/10 for consistency ..... as in consistently USELESS!!

"Internet Explorer" is worth much, much less than what Microsoft charges for it...
Nobody who has ever used Firefox, Chrome, or even Safari or Opera, for any length of time could in any honesty defend IE..
Those who claim that IE is all they need, quite likely don't even really need a computer anyway.

Cross Firefox off your list. Its ad-blocker removes half the content of your site. You turn off ad-blockers, and it's a moving montage of advertisements. I had to go back to Chrome.

Re: Help...windows 10.
Well I have been on the phone to microsoft for approx 3 hours this afternoon. The first helper did exactly what I did yesterday....uninstalled the offending Windows update.
When the call had ended I went into settings and saw that the 1709 update (the problem one) was still waiting to be reinstalled again.
Back onto a Microsoft expert, and after another 45 minutes on the phone, he has assured me that he has got rid of the file, so it wont try to install again.
Fingers crossed...so far this has been going on for 3 days now.

Re: Help...windows 10.
IE is/was free its built into windows and it not even supported my Microsoft anymore (Edge is the new browser for windows 10) IE only still exists for legacy uses as some older web servers wont run HTML5 (what the industry has moved to) your not supposed to be using it if you don't need to
@quill
there are dozens of Different Ad blockers for Firefox made by different people it is a Community Browser which allows you to create your own Add-ins (ad blockers are add-ins) and if you do create stuff You can upload it and share it. You just downloaded one that didn't suit your needs, being community based you may need to try a couple to find one you like. PLUS it is the only browser where there is add-in to download youtube videos etc.
I recommend to Install all of them, different sites work better with different browsers depends on the Web server configuration and how they have been made.
