And now the song "Yankee Doodle" finally makes sense.

The song was originally sung by the British mocking the Americans but the Americans soldiers started singing it themselves. "Yankee Doodle" is really an insult to American soldiers and the line "he stuck a feather in his hat and called in macaroni" is meant to mock the lack of fashion and sophistication the British perceived about the Americans.
