Mexico Poised to Overtake Brazil as Latin America's Largest Economy
MEXICO CITY.- For a long time, Mexico and Brazil were like two sides of a the same coin. Both had strong emerging economies, both were oil rich, and both were working hard on their international trade relationships. However, historically, whereas Brazil has been the traditional darling of the global economy -- Mexico has always been the bad son.
Relative to Mexico, Brazil had always been the bearer of good news, of expanding companies and a rising middle class. Mexico, on the other hand, was a focus of problems, of desperate people sneaking past the northern border and an outdated economy. As it could not have been otherwise, the global financial crisis slowed Brazil’s economy, whereas it made Mexico plummet into one of the worse recessions in its history.
However, in the last year the tide has started to turn. Brazil’s GDP grew a mere 1 percent in 2013, even going into a recession in the third quarter; meanwhile, Mexico’s GDP growth, while not being spectacular, was more steady throughout the year. Economic growth this year is predicted to be 4 percent for Mexico, while Brazil is looking at another disappointing year of just under 2 percent growth.

Mexico is the smallest country on the North America mainland. AND far more reliant on what happens in the USA. A large part of Mexico's growth comes from US corporations continued "off-shoring" of their production !
Brazil, on the other hand, is the largest country in South America, with a largely RESOURCES-BASED economy (not only oil..) ~ and it has much more in total "resources" than Mexico could ever dream of. AND it's economy is much larger than Mexico's in genuine terms (forget the "adjusted" figures many spruikers use these days ~ those that distort and upset realities..).
IF Mexico grows their economy too fast, and in only limited directions, then they ALSO risk having that much further to crash when their next depression rolls along..
AND ~ Let's not forget that much of Mexico's current spectacular "growth" levels is on the back of Cocaine smuggling, bad industrial conditions, super-low slave wages, no environmental protection, poor shanty towns...
Are you Aussies anti business or anti American. I would have thought it better for Mexicans to have jobs at home than have to illegally travel across the border to find work. Just an alternative thought me old cobbers.

maybe we're pro-brazil
And ever think that everyone else fucking up is good for Aussie businesses? the strength/attraction of our economy is not the high returns but stability. So instability in other nations only improves our postion.
Plus we like to measure things on a per capita basis and the flood of cheap labour in the US, increases the wealth of the average Aussie in comparison to the average American.
:::grouch:: :::grouch:: Anti-Business ::smthg:: I think you will find we understand business, it is not about being for or against it.

I think it would be nice if the Illuminati really did exist. Then all the problems in the world could be laid at the door of about 15 people. Everybody else would be innocent.
As they don't they lay the blame at the feet of the capitalist running international conglomerates. Personally I'm warming to your ideas on Skynet. That's a real problem solver.
