Russia claims the US is attempting to interfere in its upcoming presidential election
RUSSIA believes the US is attempting to interfere in its upcoming presidential election.
A general election will be held in March 18 and Moscow has claimed that a US Treasury report regarding the extension of sanctions against Russia is a “direct and obvious attempt” to interfere in the vote.
The claims comes amid continued investigation into Russia’s efforts to influence the 2016 US presidential election.
The Trump administration has notified Congress that it will not impose new sanctions on Russia at this time.
Regardless, Moscow is eyeing off Washington with suspicions.
“We do think that this is a direct and obvious attempt to time some sort of action to coincide with our elections in order to influence them,” CNN reported Dmitry Peskov as saying.
“We disagree with this, and we are sure this will have no influence.”
Peskov said the publication of the report “will be analysed in Moscow, so that our interests and the interests of our companies are guaranteed.”
The US State Department moved against imposing further sanctions because it’s confident that new legislation enacted last year is significantly deterring Russian defence sales.
Spokeswoman Heather Nauert estimated foreign governments have abandoned several billion dollars in planned or announced Russian purchases.
The decision comes amid ongoing concerns from critics of the president that his administration has been too soft on Russia.
The Treasury Department was expected to release another list of businessmen who have grown rich under Russian President Vladimir Putin, but the day came and went with no word. The Treasury Department did not respond to multiple inquiries from AP about the list.

So much international interference in elections and lobbying these days...
Wikileaks
Russian hackers
"Fake News !" claims and counter-claims
Chinese hackers
Macedonian hackers
Professionaly-run lobbying/propaganda/advertising sites
American hackers
Once upon a time life was so much simpler -- nobody trusted politicians in general, and the CIA, KGB and MI6 were known quantities.
