You could insert many politician's names in that poll and still get a lot of "yeses"

No, you really couldn't. He's a fascist and would do his best to become a dictator and have WWIII as quick as he possibly could.

Ian Dale interviewed the highly respected Senator George Mitchell this afternoon on LBC, who thought that some of what Trump says and thinks are completely barmy.
His belief is that his racism, tax status, lack of social cohesion policies and overseas policies will earn him.a substantial defeat.
Like her or loathe her, Clinton has vast political experience, a solid manifesto, is inclusive and has the appeal of being the first female president following on from the first black pres.

Both were scary, but fascist they weren't. Bush, for all his faults and boy did he have them, would never have had black kids ejected, journalists attacked, or threatened, as Trump has done, to beat someone up himself because they disagreed with him.

To be honest Andy, much as I utterly detest all of them, Trump (or his real name Drumpf) has the potential to be much, much worse, and they were bad enough.

He is cartoonish, but he's no fall guy, his ego is far too large.

I am uncertain whether he has has any viable Republican alternatives.
I think he is an egotistical meglamaniac.
A bit Bond villainish - and he plays to it.
The trouble is he is a real person rather than a fictitious madman and could be the lunatic with his finger on the nuclear button.
I would have more trust in Hilary Clinton.

He's a former reality TV star, and that trained him in how to get publicity, no doubt. He's also an entrepreneur and knows that you can never go wrong underestimating the intelligence of the public.
First of all, Trump won't win. He's already polling badly compared to Democrats, which is all that matters in the presidential election. He's not doing all that well among Republicans either, actually. Though Trump won most of the GOP primaries last night, most of those wins came by virtue of getting 30-40 percent of the vote, which none of the other four candidates he was running against could garner. In only one state (Alabama) did he come close to getting 50 percent.
Those are wins, but they still point to a divided party that can't get solidly behind Trump even at this point. And the talk amongst Republican leaders of mounting some sort of initiative to keep Trump from winning the nomination continues to intensify: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/02/28/us/politics/donald-trump-republican-party.html?_r=0
And if Trump does somehow win? He'd be a bumbling, confused president who would have to learn in a big hurry what he actually had the power to do. There would be a lot of gaffes in the early going that would completely erode confidence in his administration, but he'd learn after about a year and then do very little for the remainder of his term. By 2020, it would be clear that all the Democrats had to do was nominate a qualified candidate to beat Trump in a landslide, and the Democrats have a deep list of good candidates in their 40s and 50s who should be poised to make a run by that point.

If he is cooperating with the effort to get Hillary Clinton elected, he's doing it in the most ethical way possible. Think about it -- he's managed to present himself as the most popular alternative for people who don't like Clinton. I know a lot of people would like that alternative to be Bernie Sanders, but it shows you why Americans who hate Clinton hate her -- because she's not promising a wall on the border and a Muslim registry, not because she's too cozy with Wall Street.
If the Republican base nominates a troll, well -- the Republican Party needs a better base!
Re: Presidential election
Let's not talk of Clinton as a foregone conclusion here. She predictably won in the south, but lost the liberal and swing states with the exception of MA- which was almost an even split.
If Sanders can win the other liberal and swings states, a possibility given his 'uge momentum, he may upset Hillary a second time.
That is of course barring a massively, disgustingly undemocratic abuse of the Super Delegates.
This Republican race is over imo, but the Democrats is far from it.

The loss of Massachusetts, supposedly in Sanders' territory, is the biggest state of the NE area. It has the third highest number of delegates out of the Super Tuesday states.
It does look like Hillary is distancing herself from Sanders.

ME is big, and the split was 50/50.
She distances herself at her own risk. Super Delegates aside, she does not have a massive lead.

She has 1052 delegates, including superdelegates. Sanders has 427, also including superdelegates.

Re: Presidential election
But they can change sides. It would be an afront to a party that calls itself 'democrats', if Sanders won more pledged delegates but then lost the nomination because of unaffected Super Delegates.
I imagine if that happened the Democrats could even throw the General Election.

Its 394-577 in terms of pledged, voted for, delegates. Still wide but with most southern states accounted for and liberal and swing states still to come.

I reckon after Hillary wins in November, she should consider taking on Bernie as an advisor to her administration...
He could keep reminding them of what the Democrats left wing grassroots supporters are actually thinking and feeling...

If she wins, he should certainly be given an important role.
It is sad though that many democrat supporters have already given up on (or never had any faith in) Sanders. I didn't at first- but it is possible.

If it comes to it I'd support her over a Republican, especially Trump. But Sanders is so genuine, decent and different that he is only worthy winner.

As you say, EVEN Hillary is better than Trump, but it is a case of EVEN. The only decent person out of all of them is Sanders.
Chris Christie, standing behind Trump when he endorsed him, looked like he was wondering what the hell he had done!

Don't know if you have ever watched, but The Young Turks did a perfect impression, they were dying of laughter in the studio
The best one was as Trump was ushering him to his plane "Go home, the plane's over there, go home."
