FORUMS.
Apart from here do you post anywhere else?
I tend to use one forum for debate and chat, and just pop in a couple more to keep in touch with people who don't post here.
Do you mainly use them to keep up with the latest debates...to have a chat, or to vent when no one in the real world is listening?

I don't post anywhere else. Don't post here much now, too much like ground hog day for my taste, besides keyboard warriors bore me.
I used to enjoy a good forum ding dong with good humour and wit same as most, but that never happens now.
Good thread though

I know what you mean about groundhog day....you can only voice an opinion on the same topics so may times before you get repetitive strain injury.
Keyboard warriors have always been around, at least since I joined forums in 2007...compared to some forums this one doesn't have many, and the ones they do have are pretty tame, and considering this forum, on the whole, allows free speech, I think that's good going.
Forum ding dongs have gotten lazy..many people now dont engage in witty banter, they just tell people to F*** off
C ***....and have done it with.

Just this one and a music one, but I’m in loads of librarian Facebook groups. Don’t post every day. Depends on topic or as Miffs say, if it feels like GHD, I skip it, sometimes for months.
I don’t take it at all seriously. But I’ve made some cracking my friends in real life from online communities so that’s a Brucie Bonus.

Just two at the moment. Here and CM. After FH died that was the last place for a real laugh and banter without it getting too nasty, and that was down to Micky. The guy still gets stick but he did OK with FH. His melt downs were comedy gold.

I don't think they are. I usually go on them when I'm watching TV. I hate watching TV and not doing other things. I'm a bit of a multi tasker.

Posting on forums we can interact with people we would never get the chance to otherwise.
I have forum friends, and real life friends, I tend not to mix the two....I see forums as an extention to day to day life.....but even though I dont actually meet anyone off a forum, I still appreciate them as friends.

I've met some fabulous people from forums. I also have a really lovely friend I met on a debate Facebook group about three years ago. She lives in Scotland and we've never met but I talk to her a lot. Would love to meet her one day.

Ok I’m not familiar with that name either. I’ll stop now before getting confused even more lol.
I’ve only had the 2 names since Sky. Bast and then there was that weird episode where everybody ‘s names got hacked or deleted, then I became Cassandra (Cass for short) and that’s who I’ve been since.
Well thanks all for the info. I may pop by at some point.

True, especially if there is an international aspect to the forum. I’ve met a few in real life and there’s more I would love to and there’s some I’d run away from screaming. A few in here are on my social media so that’s yet another reason why I’m truthful and don’t lie. Besides the fact that it just isn’t who I am or what I do, someone here could easily point it out and say Oi!
It’s always nice to have different types of friends isn’t it?

I inherited CM some time ago. The Whine is for guest posting and it's mostly filled with Budgie and JO's ongoing love affair, bitching and ménage à trois type stuff. People guest post there too when their posts don't get through on other forums. We have Phil busting a gut trying to post his evil on there too but I don't let it through.
The rest of the forum is member only. And you can't use a proxy to join. It's not busy, but we go there to chat from time to time. It's particularly handy if other forums go down temporarily.

Apart from the two who fill the sections up that visitors can see. which I agree is off putting to say the least, if you are a member you can actually have nice conversations in other members only sections, nothing too heavy, just chatter really.
Its quiet SM and friendly.
It used to be a very busy forum, then the nasties were kicked out (apart from the two who troll round the open bit) there are only a few of us left, but we are mostly normal...HONEST.
I know what you meant about feeling at home on a forum though....its a nice feeling.
