Let little boys wear tiaras, says the Church of England: New advice on transgender bullying for teachers in Anglican schools

Boys as young as five should be able to wear tiaras at school without criticism, teachers in Church of England schools are to be told.
Male pupils should also be free to dress up in a tutu or high heels without attracting any comment or observation, according to anti-bullying rules sent out by the Church yesterday.
The instructions for the CofE’s 4,700 schools said they should not require children to wear uniforms that ‘create difficulty for trans pupils’.

This appears to give official backing to schools that ban skirts to avoid discrimination against transgender children.
Schools are also told they cannot use the Christian faith or Bible teachings to justify behaviour that is considered to amount to bullying – for example, identifying a transgender pupil by a sex other than the one they have chosen. The advice contains instructions on how to report bullying, including sample forms on which teachers are encouraged to name the alleged bully and their target, and use tick boxes to describe what happened.
Examples include name-calling, social media trolling, or insulting gestures.
The rules to ‘challenge homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying’ follow initial guidelines published by the Church three years ago which said being gay can be good and pupils should ‘revere and respect all members of the diverse community’.
The official teaching of the CofE, however, remains that gay sex is sinful and that members of the clergy should not be in an active sexual relationship with someone of the same sex. The Church also says marriage must continue to be between a man and a woman.
Conservative Christian activists condemned the new rules yesterday.
Andrea Minichiello Williams of Christian Concern – an evangelical member of the CofE’s parliament, the General Synod – said: ‘These rules are unkind, unloving and lacking in compassion. We are all against bullying, but the Church is using these guidelines to pursue an agenda that runs counter to the Church’s teaching.’

The new guidance came as a Christian teacher was suspended from a school in Oxfordshire after accidentally calling a transgender pupil ‘girl’ instead of ‘boy’. Joshua Sutcliffe, 27, faces a disciplinary hearing this week in which he could lose his job, after the parents complained.
The CofE rules say children in nurseries and the primaries that make up the majority of Church schools should be free to follow their own inclinations when they dress. They state: ‘In the early years context and throughout primary school, play should be a hallmark of creative exploration.
‘Pupils need to be able to play with the many cloaks of identity … Children should be at liberty to explore the possibilities of who they might be without judgment or derision. For example, a child may choose the tutu, princess’s tiara and heels and/or the fireman’s helmet, tool belt and superhero cloak without expectation or comment.’

The rules add: ‘Within school communities there will be members of staff who are co-habiting, in same-sex relationships, bisexual, trans or exploring their gender identity.
‘Same-sex parents and trans parents may be among the parent body and in most secondary schools a minority of pupils will come out as gay or lesbian during their years in the school.
‘An increasing number of children and young people are being referred to gender identity services … an increasing number of primary and secondary schools are reporting incidences of children wishing to identify as other than the gender of their birth.’
Any school that does not teach the importance of gay or transgender rights will be ‘failing in their duty to prepare their pupils to live in modern Britain’, the Church rules say.

The guidance adds that there can be ‘no justification for this negative behaviour based on the Christian faith or the Bible’. It states that ‘the Church of England’s teaching on human sexuality and a range of Christian views should be taught, as well as a range of perspectives from other faiths and world views’.
The Most Rev Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, said: ‘Central to Christian theology is the truth that every single one of us is made in the image of God. Every one of us is loved unconditionally by God. This guidance helps schools to offer the Christian message of love, joy and celebration of our humanity without exception or exclusion.’
Roman Catholic schools are to cut the terms ‘mother’ and ‘father’ from admissions forms to avoid offending step-parents and same-sex couples.

It was on the BBC news again this morning some pc do gooder bleating on about kids needing to express their sexuality and not be bullied because they want to wear a tutu when dressing up in school. Are these people forgetting that kids will take the piss out of other kids because that's human nature, and you can be ginger and get bullied, or have big ears and get bullied, never mind prance around in a tutu and tiara! Aren't they taking into consideration that little boys and girls find it just as important to be secure in their gender, and that a child coming into school one day as a girl and another as a boy will generate not just confusion but trigger the cruelty inherent in most children?

I should think the best way to get children to embrace differences is to downplay it not go over the top with silly pc ideas that just highlight the differences in the worst possible way rather than make them more acceptable.

Bullying should be stamped out of school, full stop. But it isn't, and I fear it never will be.

I think this is ridiculous. Children should be treated as such not used in some people's ideal of a new world.

Boys are boys, girls are girls. If they want to dress as men or girls when adults, its down to them.

All this confusion is obviously being filtered down from the older generation.

Did anyone here ever encounter this sort of debate or confusion in school....I know I didn't.

Allowing boys to wear dresses and tiaras in school (or anywhere else) has sweet sod all to do with bullying. Bullies will always find a reason to bully, a kid doesn't need to wear a bloody tiara to find that out.
Schools should clamp down hard on any sort of bullying, not make up ridiculous scenarios that will make a child look ridiculous in front of his peers.

You and I may not agree on this, but homosexuals, for example, are not accepted, respected and liked by so many of us today because of the intolerant, holier-than-thou preaching and zealotry on their behalf by those like Sassy, who will brook no opposition, let alone challenge, to their self-proclaimed moral infallibility and politically "correct" opinions...but because they are simply ordinary, nice, friendly people with a sense of humour and an ability to make the rest of us laugh with them - and not at them.

Those great, talented and hugely funny gay comedians such as Frankie Howerd and the wonderful Kenneth Williams did far, far more to gain fully deserved respect for homosexuals than a bunch of hectoring bores with their endless turgid moralising, like Sassy, ever did.

I will take no lecture from the likes of her on who may and who may not be the more prone to suicide, nor unfounded accusations of having "poked fun" at anyone deemed to be disadvantaged. I have done no such thing, and never would do so any more than I would "poke fun" at the equally suicidal tendencies of the British ex-servicemen and women whose welfare I personally have chosen to champion and to work for.

And I would very much doubt whether trans people, of whom, sadly, I must confess a lack of knowledge, are any more potentially suicidal than service personnel who have been physically and mentally damaged and scarred while doing their duty for Queen and country, or are any more lacking in a sense of fun.

But I will hazard a guess that they possess just the same sort of love of life, good humour and ability stoically to face whatever life throws at them - like the rest of us have to do -without the sanctimonious, supercilious and interfering prattle of self-appointed "guardians" of the nation's moral standards.

My very good mate in Colchester is transexual and I have watched the treatment she gets from fools like Smelly. I have also gone to court on her behalf when one of the pumped up steriod brigade, which probably inclues Smelly, threw her across the room and nearly broke her back. Because he was a well known thug, most of the snivelling men wouldn't go to court as witnesses. I did, and he got put away, so don't fucking lecture me on having a sense of humour about underhanded, oh I'm not really taking the piss, posts about transexuals. Got it?

I was talking about the earned acceptance and respect now rightly shown to homosexuals, who were once a reviled and criminalised sector of society, and the relevance of their position to the relatively new phenomenon of transexuals and their status and position in, and acceptance by, society.

Humour, and not ridicule, has been an important factor in that, in my opinion. It is no more offensive to make a humorous, opposed to gratuitously offensive, observation on transexualism than it is to make a similarly humorous observation about anything or anyone else.

Is the concept too advanced for you?

I was objecting to your words, because you of all people should supposedly know how powerful words are and also, you should know how an underlying meaning can be conveyed under the guise of so called humour. You think it was humour that got homosexual people acceptance? Really? That will be why Eisel still gets shit for being gay from the likes of Tommy, Smelly et al. Oh the funny ones were fine, but you would want the other living next to you, was quite the norm and still is for some.

i don't hate transgenders, i pity them, i think they are desperately ill and in need of professional mental help, but instead they get people like you who enable their delusions instead of trying to help them through.

you're the real abuser here sassy, you probably feed on their misery, the drama of being a transgender is not doubt like a soap opera to you, but these are real people, they arent your personal freak show, they have very serious issues that often lead to suicide because they haven't been dealt with.

you can paint me as the bad guy all you want, but the reality is that i would prefer a less drastic and more lasting solution to their problems than irreversible surgery that more often than not false to address the underlying mental health problem these people are suffering with

40% of transgenders commit suicide and that includes post op trans men and women, and personally i don't think you give a damn about how man transgenders kill themselves so long as your narrative and liberal agenda gets advanced

They did not, nor should they have been required to, "earn" acceptance; they had to "earn" acceptance because until 1967 to follow their chosen lifestyle was to commit a criminal offence under the then law.

Is it heck being phased out. I call my other half my husband or my partner depending on what mood I'm in. Both are interchangeable.
