People will continue to celebrate Christmas, but its hardly about actually celebrating the birth of Jesus anymore, ( who clearly was not born on the 25th December, that was the date set aside for the birth of Mithra). Many celebrate more around a time of good will, giving presents and being with their families etc.

I think that a lot of Christians don't really care who celebrates Christmas these days. It's become such a commercial enterprise anyway - the best time of year for retail companies and pubs to do a lot of business. That's what it's all aimed at.

Christians are quite free to celebrate their own way, or to see Christmas the way they want to. Nobody is forced to join in the commercial exploitation - that is a personal decision which many people feel they would rather not make but feel obliged to.
