Kevin Spacey airbrushed from new movie: Disgraced actor's scenes sensationally axed from Ridley Scott's new $40m blockbuster just SIX WEEKS before release, as cast and crew agree to immediate reshoot with Christopher Plummer as J. Paul Gett
First topic message reminder :
[*]The actor, 58, has been written out of the film in a bold move by director Ridley Scott in the wake of multiple sexual assault allegations
[*]The cast and crew have all agreed to re-shoot Spacey's scenes, and are said to be 'determined' to stick to the December 22 release date
[*]Sources close to the production claim the re-shoots are starting immediately, with Christopher Plummer, 87, taking on the role of late oil tycoon J. Paul Getty
[*]Director Scott 'made the decision unilaterally and only notified Sony of his decision on late Wednesday afternoon', it isreported
[*]The move comes after the movie was pulled from the prestigious closing night slot of the AFI Festival this month, and had its awards campaign halted

It is not a new phenomenon, it happened to fatty arbuckle in the 20's, and it will keep happening as long as actors, producers, directors continue to think they are somehow better than the rest of us.
If they drop any actor who has an accusation made against them, there won't be many films coming out.

I didn't lie. You, however, are trolling, and you're clearly working your way up to making another disgusting sexual comment.
Did you or did you not claim I judged him?

No, I did not. I said you were not a position to judge him.
But I never did judge him, and yet you were the one that did judge him
So how can you be a position to hold a subjective view and then claim i cannot have one, even though I never even made one?

So you were lying when you said you were bored then. Keep trying Didge - you might manage to wreck the entire thread, which would make your day.

So far as I've read most of Spacey's 'victims' weren't minors...only two have come forwards to say he was inappropriate when they were both 14. One of them says he dated Spacey who then raped him but there seems to be no actual proof of this other than one word against another. I don't think Spacey is unique, I think this kind of thing is rife, and all those who ever turned a blind eye or allowed it happen are just as much to blame for its perpetuation.
All the pearl clutching is typical of the hypocrisy of Hollywood. You can almost hear the thundering clamour as everyone abandons the accused while desperately trying to remember if they themselves have any 'misdemeanours'.
I remember reading about Marilyn Monroe saying she was relieved that, now that she was at the top of her profession, she no longer had to suck Producer dick. Well, if you're prepared to do that in order to achieve fame and fortune, you can't really scream 'victim', can you?

He might be a good actor. He's still being questioned over suspicious sexual conduct though. So whether he acts superbly or not, is irrelevant.

Why is it relevant to his acting career? Nobody knows if it's even true. They're fools to drop him just because someone made a claim.

Why not? People watch films which are largely fiction. They're not necessarily interested in the real people behind the actors. That's the point of acting - to make people feel that the character is real.

Hollywood is built on hypocrisy, as long as you are useful you can do what you like to anyone, the moment your aren't you are fair game.
the weinstein case has shown hollywood up for what they are, a bunch of self serving hypocrites who loved him when he was able to further their careers and who have turned on him the moment he cant, meanwhile they still applaud like performing seals for the child rapist and fugitive Roman polanski at every opportunity, another 11 of his victims have recently come out with claims of rape.

exactly right
my son was in oliver twist with sarah lancashire, tom hardy, bob brydon, timothy spall. i had to go with him as a chaperone. all the cast were lovely but tom hardy was up his own arse and refused point blank to talk to any of us and stayed in his trailer mostly whereas the others mingled with us and chatted away.
i still think tom hardy is a great actor though and would happily watch any of his films
i know that's not equal to abuse but you get the point

Yes, I do get the point. I've heard that a few favourites of mine aren't that great in real life, but it's the character they play that I'm interested in.

I remember the wrong box being filmed in bath, john mills,Michael Caine peter cook and dudley moore were part of the cast and they were happy to chat with those watching between takes in the royal crescent. My parents were good friends with john mill's stuntman/stand in and we had hayley mills and a young ian mcshane to tea one afternoon in the 60's. Both as far as I recall very nice people.

I remember reading about Marilyn Monroe saying she was relieved that, now that she was at the top of her profession, she no longer had to suck Producer dick. Well, if you're prepared to do that in order to achieve fame and fortune, you can't really scream 'victim', can you?
It was well known in the industry what Savile was like. Just as Hollywood knows exactly who did what and when and how. But that doesn't stop the opportunists jumping in for a slice of fame and fortune.

my son was in oliver twist with sarah lancashire, tom hardy, bob brydon, timothy spall. i had to go with him as a chaperone. all the cast were lovely but tom hardy was up his own arse and refused point blank to talk to any of us and stayed in his trailer mostly whereas the others mingled with us and chatted away.
i still think tom hardy is a great actor though and would happily watch any of his films
i know that's not equal to abuse but you get the point
I read that Hardy deliberately isolates himself on movie sets to stay in character. It's most likely a device a lot of actors use.

yes, but there is no actual physical evidence to back up the numerous accusations against saville and he was never convicted for any of them, and never will be as he is dead. I am sure most of them are quite probably true, but I am equally sure some may be motivated by moneyHoratioTarr wrote:The Devil, You Know wrote:

A story circulated for a long time that Dustin Hoffman (being a "method actor") stayed up all night to play a character who has stayed up all night. Arriving on the set, Laurence Olivier asked Hoffman why he looked the way he did. Hoffman told him, to which Olivier replied in jest, "Why not try acting? It's much easier."gelico wrote:HoratioTarr wrote:

If you thought Spacey was a fine actor before, nothing he has done since can change that view surely.
I doubt the majority of people would want to see him carrying on acting though, because now his private life has overtaken any character he could play...imo.
Once a person has been embroiled in this kind of bad publicity, I cant think of any modern actor that has gone on to continued success.
And why should they?

The private life of an actor wouldn't overtake the character for me - that's the point of fine acting - the real person becomes the character.
Do you think that Cliff Richard should have disappeared after the bad publicity surrounding him?
You don't even know if Spacey has done anything wrong.

What 'evidence' do you seek??? Other than the word of 12 or 13 people?
Sexual groping does not usually cause any physical injury as evidence, the injury is psychological
For God's sake, Ragga there is such a thing as the 'WEIGHT of evidence'.
NINE people from one movie alone, complained he sexually molested them.
Plus several others from a previous lifetime, some of them being minors.
Plus the son of a very famous actor (Dreyfuss)
Plus the son of this distraught news anchor Heather Unruh, the lady in this vid >>

That is the problem with people coming forward after years and years and making claims. There's no evidence, and Spacey himself says he can't remember. It doesn't matter how many people make those claims - they didn't say anything at the time, so there's nothing to go on, and one claim can lead to another.

Spacey was running around groping young men and boys, they all told the same story - he'd suddenly lounge at them and reach inside their underwear and grab their bits, leaving them thoroughly humiliated and mentally scarred.

How do you know they're telling the truth, or that they're not exaggerating? Telling the same story doesn't mean anything.

As unconnected people who do not know each other, make very similar claims, it certainly means something in a court of law.
Its called corroborating evidence

How do people ''exaggerate'' about someone reaching inside their underwear and grabbing their genitals?
And why would so many people complain about him - this is where the sheer weight of evidence comes in.
Why is that presenter weeping - because her son was mentally damaged, that's why.
The stories are all out there, Ragga, I've seen the victims talking on camera.
You OTOH already admitted that you refuse to read the reports.
