First topic message reminder :

[*]The actor, 58, has been written out of the film in a bold move by director Ridley Scott in the wake of multiple sexual assault allegations

[*]The cast and crew have all agreed to re-shoot Spacey's scenes, and are said to be 'determined' to stick to the December 22 release date

[*]Sources close to the production claim the re-shoots are starting immediately, with Christopher Plummer, 87, taking on the role of late oil tycoon J. Paul Getty

[*]Director Scott 'made the decision unilaterally and only notified Sony of his decision on late Wednesday afternoon', it isreported
[*]The move comes after the movie was pulled from the prestigious closing night slot of the AFI Festival this month, and had its awards campaign halted

Would people boycott that Ridley Scott movie though?   Because Spacey's in it?   I doubt  it.

I think the majority of movie goers couldn't care less.

Actually, this scandal has affected the film industry. Takings are down apparently, right across the board.
Red carpet events have conspicuously lost some of their sparkle.

Bladerunner which was expected to do quite well has made a loss to the tune of tens of millions.
We love to go see a good movie  - I hope this scandal does not bring the industry down.
If they start hiking up the prices to make up for the shortfall in takings, we'll stop going.  Laughing

Oh another thing ....
Why is everyone saying people should have come forward and complained sooner instead of waiting up to 30 years?

Most of them did complain immediately - they complained long and loud to anyone who would listen.
Some went STRAIGHT to the police but their cases got mysteriously dropped.

Time to kill this myth that people did not report these attacks.
Not their fault if their complaints were hushed up.

How do people ''exaggerate'' about someone reaching inside their underwear and grabbing their genitals?  Shocked
And why would so many people complain about him - this is where the sheer weight of evidence comes in.
Why is that presenter weeping - because her son was mentally damaged, that's why.

The stories are all out there, Ragga, I've seen the victims talking on camera.
You OTOH already admitted that you refuse to read the reports.

Of course people can exaggerate - it happens all the time. Why are so many people complaining after all this time, people who said nothing at the time? The stories may well be out there, but how do you know they're not just stories?

I don't read all the reports on all the allegations because there are so many, but that doesn't mean I can't disagree with you.

It's called jumping on the band wagon.     Don't think for one moment there isn't a plethora of wannabee's scrambling for a cut of any compensation that might be dished out or 15 mins of fame.

For those who did complain back at the time it happened then hopefully they'll get some recognition for what happened...but Hollywood being what it is and everyone involved in the industry toeing the line or keeping their gobs shut in order to further their careers, I don't personally have much sympathy for those who choose to go down seedier routes to get what they want.

Many a famous actor has sucked efficacious cock to get up the ladder of fame and fortune...their choice.  Nobody forced them.

And that's the crux of it all really, isn't it? Choosing whom to believe.
Sorting the liars from the genuine.

The police are paid handsomely to uphhold the law, they do not have the luxury of being able to dismiss people as just  ''bandwagoners.'' When girls kept coming forward  to accuse those vile rochdale paedo groomers of abuse, nobody accused them of being ''bandwagoners'' , nobody accused them of being ''after compensation''. So let's be equally fair to ALL who say they are victims.

The police have to thoroughly investigate each formal police complaint made. Any instances of malicious complaints proven, can be dealt with by due process, no fear.

Personally I don't think any of Spacey's victims are lying or exaggerating. Very few expect any compensation, in fact some of his accusers simply accused him of propositioning them in a harassing manner after plying them with drinks. They have come forward just to show empathy and support for his victims.

Not everything is about money!

I think in Hollywood you'll find it's very much about money.     Nobody thought that nice little man, Anh Nhu Nguyen, was a fraud either when he got £10K  from the Grenville Tower disaster, but he was.  I don't underestimate anyone these days when money or the chance of fame raises its ugly head.   I'm not defending Spacey, he should be publicly apologising to everyone he groped or propositioned, but to be utterly ostracised and blacklisted from the industry?  I'm not sure about that.

Being labelled guilty before the real facts are known has already caused the death of someone.   To me, it seems to be getting just as nasty as the alleged crimes these people have done.   At what point does it become a lynch mob mentality?

The women who were the most keen for money, pressed for it straightaway, immediately after the assaults. Weinstein compensated several women straightaway. He gave them HUGE sums, and got them to sign non disclosure agreements, (NDA's)  ..... which some are now flouting cos they want to reveal what he did.

Anyway hopefully things will settle down soon in hollywood. This has all been a very messy business. Smile
