what made you happy today ?
First topic message reminder :
Thought it would be nice to share some happiness as there seems to be a lot of negativity in the world .
The things that made me happy today are as follows .
My son and his girlfriend moved out last weekend and today me and HF planned for some decorating .
I saw my gorgeous grandson - we were very happy with the sunflowers he planted a few weeks after my dad died - they've bloomed and they are gorgeous - my grandson is so happy with them
My cat let me groom him and i finally got a huge fur knot off him - not something that would make most people happy -but it did me - I've been trying to do that for weeks
happy days

Well, put it this way, during the early hours of the morning after much drinking, we fed him copious amounts of cheese when we got the munchies (mostly me tbh).
So I think I left him fatter than he was.....

Yes. Waking up healthy every day is enough reason to be happy, as Magica said to us once.
Just read the tragic story of a pretty young nurse who died on her honeymoon at a paradise resort. She already had lupus then contracted pneumonia. Lets all be grateful for good health for a start. Plus other things.

Laughing my arse off when I got told a very funny story a little while ago....ah the fuckeries....oh, and sweet-talking a co-worker into doing my stupid, pointless online training for me, for a bottle of wine.
What a star she is.

Re: what made you happy today ?
Spending time with one of my very best friends and seeing her gain strength since last Tuesday. She's eating more and walking around more. She seems to have rediscovered her fight against this shitty cancer that will eventually beat her if we let it.
Last Tuesday she was so weak we all thought she wasn't going to make it. Today, we laughed, talked shit, ate loads of food and I massaged her back and her feet.
Great day.

it's heartbreaking to lose someone you love but while there's still life, there's still time to create a good and happy memory. Make the most of every second, eddie

You cant beat the old traditional Christmas decorations....they are lovely.
It will be nice if you can post a pic when you have made yours VOD....I love hand crafted items.
We have a modern tree now we just plug in...its pretty when lit, when not it looks like a dead tree. just brown spindly branches.
When son then grandson was young, we use to have a real tree, every year we would let them pick a special decoration, usually a traditional one for the tree, I will hand them down to one of them one year....some of them are unusual.

You are welcome Eddie...I thought of you and Lisa today.
Bumped into a couple we have known for years but don't see much of. He is now terminally ill with cancer, still getting out and about and still cheerful, his wife seems to be the one who this is affecting more.
She was saying he cant bare to stay in now....he has to make the most of each day, they are eating out a lot, visiting really nice quaint little towns and villages, wandering round garden centres, seeing as much as they can of their families....in short, just making the most out of every day.
It what we should all be doing...making the most of every day while we can.

Re: what made you happy today ?
Some of you may remember my friend Shatl - I shared her story here about the death of her two and a half year old at a local nursery some years back.
She's been trying and not succeeding in getting pregnant (she has some hormonal issues and also her body cannot retain enough iron) for years.
Today she has told me she is three months pregnant. They've been waiting to tell people due to her history.
I cried and cried when she told me...and this is how she did it:
(Her six year old pictured - my daughter's best friend)

Really happy for your friend. She has been through hell and back and still never gave up hope.
Its certainly news to celebrate and your friend has the greatest courage and a can do attitude.
