Michael Gove accused of 'blatant' attempt to politicise Ofsted as Tory crony set for schools job
The Education Secretary failed to deny that he is lining up Conservative donor Theodore Agnew for the job.
Michael Gove has refused to rule out appointing a Tory crony to be the new head of Ofsted.
The Education Secretary was accused of a “blatant” attempt to politicise the schools watchdog by refusing to keep Labour peer Sally Morgan as its chairman.
He failed three times to deny that Conservative donor Theodore Agnew was being lined up for the post when quizzed.
Asked if Mr Agnew, who has given £134,000 to the Tories, will replace Baroness Morgan, Mr Gove said: “No one should be ruled out on basis of political allegiance”.
Multi-millionaire Mr Agnew is a trustee of the Policy Exchange think tank which Mr Gove helped establish and who now sits on the Department for Education’s academies board.

And coming on the back of 'Dave' taking along his wife's dad and some neighbours from Witney on a jaunt out to China it just doesn't look good.

This actually hasn't happened yet. I can say with absolute certainty that Labour filled all the posts with Labour supporters.
Ridiculous non story and typical hypocrisy on the part of IRn Bru.

As Dennis Sewel recently wrote in The Spectator,
"Over the Labour years these groups have swelled from an irritant into a state within a state. With 700,000 employees and boards that read like a who-was-who of the Blair/Brown era, the quangos will represent Labour’s stay-behind fifth column.
....Many senior public appointments have been filled by former Labour ministers. David Clark got the Forestry Commission, Chris Smith the Environment Agency, Geoff Rooker the Food Standards Agency. Larry Whitty, the party’s former general secretary, is chairman of Consumer Focus (where Dame Suzi is a fellow board member — that freelance consumer consultancy experience came in useful after all). Baroness Morgan won a seat on the board of the Olympic Delivery Authority, Lord Warner went straight into a paid NHS chairmanship. The list seems endless."
And there's more - much more:

Steady up old chap I'm just posting a news story that has hit the headlines and saying that it doesn't look good coming on the back of Dave's previous jaunt to China with Sam's dad and some of his neighbours. At least you're not trying to defend all that so I suppose that's a plus.

Previous Tory governments facing a similar problem on coming into office have tried to repay Labour in kind, booting out those suspected of socialist sympathies and replacing them with the Lord Lieutenant’s cousins. That would not be David Cameron’s style, but the Notting Hill equivalent — hiring a new generation of Conservatives schooled in social entrepreneurship — is no longer a course open to him. He cannot change the membership, even if he were minded to.
Ever since the 1970s, politicians have been promising drastic action against quangos. Margaret Thatcher called for a cull, Tony Blair vowed to ‘dismantle the quango state’, even Gordon Brown once promised a ‘bonfire of quangos’. Yet they have more staff, power and money than ever, with 18,500 people serving on their boards. The Tories talk about reducing the number of quangos, but this will not be enough. Their number has fallen under Labour — but only because they have amalgamated and grown stronger still.

I don't support cronyism or political nepotism in any shape or form, and I condemn any party which abuses its powers in order to secure lucrative sinecures and non-elected political power for its supporters, former politicians and activists.
Perhaps if you felt the same way, you would not now be so miffed that your attempt to discredit Gove had resulted in proof that the party which you so assiduously promote as being morally and politically superior should have been guilty of exactly the same sort of thing - and perhaps even more so - during its period of office.

Where did I attempt to discredit Michael Gove? This is a current news story and anyway if I wanted to do that I would have picked another subject.

I would take some convincing that you had chosen and posted it with the cryptic comment "oh dear, oh dear, oh dear" had you wished to endorse his action.
Yes, it's a current news story: Labour Party activist sacked from Tory-led government job claims that it's politically motivated."

My oh dear comments were related to the situation looking bad on the back of Dave's jaunt to China. I never even mentioned Michael Gove in what I had written.
It's the LibDems that are furious at Gove for this and it has been reported in every single mainstream media outlet.
Your comments about me are completely unfounded and based on nothing.

For God's sake, your thread and the extract on which it was based was about Gove and was intended to imply that Morgan's sacking was politically inspired - as it probably was.
Your sole intention was to discredit the Tories, and I simply pointed out that the Labour Party pulled exactly the same sort of stunt when they were in office.
You just don't like like being challenged....end of story.

The outgoing chair is a labour supporter now I wonder who appointed her?

As an avowed supporter of one of the most corrupt govts ever to run this country you have no solid ground to attack anyone.

Oh for heavens sake stop it. What I posted was an extract from a news article in a newspaper with comments added by me that it didn't look good that this was happening on the back of previous accusations being made against Cameron on his China jaunt. I offered no opinion whatsoever in relation to what Michael Gove was doing and that is a fact.
You obviously don't like articles in newspapers that suggest cronyism by the Tories being put up for discussion but that's just too bad.
And if you had just restricted your opinions on the article itself in the first place instead of adding opinions about me then perhaps I would have taken you views more seriously.

Sally Morgan was appointed by this Government, and has been praised by Gove for doing an exceptional job.
