[*]Officer handed £12,127 in damages after successfully suing West Midlands Police
[*]Today the payout was branded 'ludicrous' by former Lib Dem leader Tim Farron
[*]Case was just one of a number of workplace injury claims to the force, which paid £61,131 in compensation between April 1 last year and March 31, 2017

A police officer was handed more than £12,000 in compensation after being bitten by a flea while at work.
The news follows a series of astonishing compensation claims made by officers in recent years, which have included huge payouts for falling off chairs and tripping on kerbs. The unnamed detective was awarded £12,127 in damages after he successfully sued West Midlands Police, which also had to fork out £4,185 in legal fees in the case. It was just one of a number of workplace injury claims to the force and, in total, West Midlands Police paid out £61,131 in compensation between April 1 last year and March 31.

I wonder how he identified which flea caused his injury (DNA testing the flea and the bite ?)  ???

And how did he prove that the flea was in the station ?   (How do we know that he didn't take "the flea" in there that day, in his pocket ?).

Or, that it was unknowingly carried in on his person ?       tongue
