Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels star Vinnie Jones is accused of 'massacre' as he posts picture of 100 foxes he helped shoot on one night out boasting 'Anyone beat this?'
First topic message reminder :
Ex-football hard-man Vinnie Jones posted a photo of 100 foxes he shot dead while boasting about his hunting skills on Twitter.
Mr Jones, 52, tweeted the snap of the animals, strewn out on a country lane, with the caption: 'A real night lamping #foxes anyone beat this?'
The photo, shared on Sunday evening, has been met with fury by animal lovers with one charity accusing him of 'nothing less than massacre.'
However, shoot campaigners have claimed that lamping, shooting foxes at night, is necessary to ensure the welfare of game, wildlife and livestock.
The sportsman-turned Hollywood star is a passionate hunter and admitted that he enjoys shooting birds, foxes and going fishing.
Mr Jones, who lives in Los Angeles but has a country cottage in Sussex, has shared various photos of his hunts on his Twitter account - including one picture of him posing next to 16 dead rabbits.
He tweeted the snap to a friend, in January, with the caption: 'How about this for two hours pal'
Other photos show Jones smiling in camouflage gear as he kneels over a dead badger, during a hunt in 2012, and holding a gun as he poses by hides in the countryside, during January this year.

"Common sense"...
No doubt that was what those greedy and lazy British beef feedlot owners were claiming, while sweet-talking the Thatcher Tories into loosening up hygiene laws back in the 1980s...
Allowing those "worlds best" feedlot owners to feed BSE contaminated beef back to their own herds !!! Amazing what a few bribes to key politicians can achieve, isn't it !
Yep..
That's British "common sense" at it's best !!!

These facile arguments that the likes of Fred, nicko and Victor put forward to defend the needless slaughter of British wildlife in the name of "conservation" and defending a few bone-lazy farmers reminds of similar problems that have been seen in 'New World' countries as well :
* Tasmanians hunting Thylocines into extinction a century ago;
* Bounties put on dingoes, to "help" out sheep farmers;
* American ranchers having wolves, mountain lions and coyotes declared "pests" -- not only making life easier for lazy ranchers, but also providing more prey for their endless bloodsport.
Encouraging inefficient and wrong-headed farmers to keep on doing the wrong thing will eventually mean their going the same way as the Aussie car manufacturing industry..

It would obviously be placing too much of a strain on your own two operational brain cells to mention the word "prion" wouldn't it?
Go on, Google it up - and then you may be able to discuss the topic of bovine spongiform encephalopathy intelligently.
How about BSE in Europe, the USA, Canada? Was that also Margaret Thatcher's fault?
Feedlots? Not in the UK, little man...we have enough spring, summer and autumn grazing in the west of the UK and then move on to grain or hay or silage-based winter fodder for our domestic beef production.
Any animal protein-based supplements that contributed to BSE in the UK were not from UK farm-based sources, as you claimed earlier, (it would have been illegal to feed any fallen stock to beef cattle and is unheard of in the UK) but from bought-in and almost certainly imported sources.
Australia, possibly! Thank you, you bastards.
If I were you I would contact that, er, prestigious degree mill phony university that gave you your alleged BSc in agriculture and ask for your money back.
In the meantime I'll continue to rely on my knowledge of and experience in the farming industry.
And without having to ask for Mr Google's advice.

I hope that you didn't have to pay much for 'em, otherwise I suggest you demand your money back.

The question to ask here and I like Nicko, Victor and Lord Ed.
If you love animals, which I know you do and yet like me still eat meat. Then its not about animals, but about a view on a control of land. A view that within that land you are the alpha male. Which is not formed from protecting your human group, but the property, whether that be other animals through livestock for capital gain.
So the question to ask is why would it be so wrong to reintroduce the natural predators to this land, like the Lynx and Wolf? As seen, they readdress the balance of nature itself.
If anyone is anti readdressing the balance of nature. Then they are nothing more than takers and only have self interest. Now I have nothing against hunting, but when that hunting has been engineered. To mean curtailing certain animals. Is because their natural predators were once originally exterminated. That means that where once we were hunter gatherers. Where they once only hunted for what they needed. We now have so altered the balance of animal predator and prey through hunting and domesticating. That we have such an over balance with some animals, because of mass human intervention. That this then wrongly allows for some to use as an excuse to call open time on shooting season. On what we have ourselves created, in how certain animals now have become pests. As they have no natural prey other than that of human farmers or hunters. As their natural predators have been wiped out from these shores.
So I understand why you want to be able to cull such overwhelming numbers of badgers and foxes, but its because of over hunting, that has created this situation in the first place. Where people over hunted their natural predators. Then further caused issues by domesticating and farming arable land.
Nobody really owns the land and those farmers. Laying claim to want to cull badgers and foxes, are the ones that have altered the balance of predators and prey themselves.
Its time we stopped fucking around with nature and start respecting it. As just because you have laid claim to some land. Does not mean you can then screw up the balance of this. You want to hunt to eat, then I have no problem, but spare me any pest control argument. As that was self created by hunting to extinction the natural predators in the uk.

Never actually owned a Holden, so won't worry me how much nicko wants to slag them off...
Did have a Series III LandRover in the late 80s, though -- biggest load of underpowered crap I've ever driven !!! (To be fair, though, I did drive a couple of 'Defenders' while in the Army Reserve -- a great improvement over those Series' Landies from 1948 through to the 1970s..).
Fred's old dinosaur is probably like the proverbial 'grandfather's axe' -- "only had four new handles and two new heads, but still works just as well as the day it was new !"
Used to be a few Landrovers kicking around on Aussie farms back when, but not anymore -- these days, the main 4WD workhorse "utes" to be seen are Toyotas, Nissans, Ford Ranger (also sold by Mazda as the "BT50"), the odd Mitsi' Triton, and Isuzus (also sold by GM as "Colorados"..).

Well, of course any elderly Series 3 that in all probably had never been maintained properly and was being driven by some twerp who had not managed to work out what the transfer gearbox was for would appear to be "underpowered crap."
The bog standard Solihull-built two and a quarter petrol engine was (and in my 2a's case still is after 100,000+ miles) quite adequate for general UK use, but would obviously have been inadequate for your much longer distances and extreme conditions....so you should have used one with a six cylinder powerhouse, you tightwad!
And had you not managed to work out that the reason the iconic Defender was a "great improvement" over the Series 3 was because it was a two-generation (via the Ninety and One-Ten models) development of the marque?
And where and when did I claim the Series 2/2a was a "pinnacle of engineering"? I never said or even believe that; I'm just one of several thousand Landy enthusiasts in the UK who believe that as many examples as possible of the historic Series marque should be preserved and kept on the road and in daily use. In my case, my County Station Wagon is my fourth model starting with a Series One.
If you want to emulate a Mississippi redneck good ol' boy on speed by roaring round in a souped up Ranger, you go for it. Meanwhile, I'll stick to what I know to be the best.
(For Christ's sake don't tell me you drive a Jeep...even mention of that name means a "drinks-all-round" fine in our county Land Rover Club!)

Wouldn't buy one, either, from what I've seen and heard over the years...
IF I bought something like a Ranger or a Colorado, it wouldn't be a "souped up.. redneck" style pickup, but rather a cab-chassis with a flat-top tray back suitable for my beekeeping..

Veya lives and works a long way from the real "outback"...
He possibly lives closer to Canberra than some of you Pom's live to London..
As for my own experiences/education -- completed high school (unlike half those Brit's on here..), studied Agriculture at university; have worked on farms, with commercial beekeepers, at abattoirs, in factories; as well as keeping my own bees..

Coming soon to a Mercedes dealer near you..
And they're promising competitive pricing.
Now, if only they could bring out a cab-chassis version..

I was particularly fond of the deer and coyotes.

British motors are too high-compression...up around 9/1 -- 10/1. Reason why they don't last as long as German.
German motors are typically 5/1. They lack torque, but they are much more dependable and long-lasting.

I don't know. The British, at the beginning, went for performance. The Germans went the other way, and went for reliability and longevity.
Compare the British BSA two-cylinder 500 cc, for example, with the German BMW horizontally-opposed R-60, a work of art.
Which one is in the junk heap today, and which is in a museum?

Veya lives and works a long way from the real "outback"...
He possibly lives closer to Canberra than some of you Pom's live to London..
As for my own experiences/education -- completed high school (unlike half those Brit's on here..), studied Agriculture at university; have worked on farms, with commercial beekeepers, at abattoirs, in factories; as well as keeping my own bees..
Fred wrote for a newspaper and drives a Landie; nicko shoots rabbits.
Well bully for you - but so what?
I completed grammar school (an excellent school founded in the 16th century); served in the RAF (short service commission); did most jobs in print journalism becoming editor of a daily newspaper at 34; decided to work in agricultural PR and wrote and broadcast on farming and the countryside for three decades; ran a rural interests-based media training consultancy after retiring from full-time practice; had many years practical farming experience having married into a farming family (my late wife was a real farmer, running an award-winning 700 acre mixed farm for her father); have an OU degree and two degree-level professional qualifications on which basis I was a visiting tutor in journalism/media studies at two universities; am a published author and was winner of a BBC award for my radio play about a 17th century historical event.
Oh, and I drive a classic historic Land Rover for fun and a BMW for every day use.
So what makes you so fucking special?

WHEN have I ever claimed to be in any way "special", Ferdy ???
You and Victor were the ones claiming previously that I am lying over my education..
I simply see you sitting on your laurels, and living back in the 1980s, denying the world has moved on without you.
