BNP loses High Court battle to hold on to £389,000 it had been left in a will
The British National Party yesterday lost its High Court battle to hang on to £389,000 it had been left in a will.
Expat Joseph Robson, 81, who died in Alicante, Spain, in 2010 left his entire estate to the BNP apart from £135 willed to one of two sons.
But Judge Richard Sheldon said it broke a ban on foreign donations as Mr Robson, of Lutterworth, Leics, left the UK in 1992 and was unlikely to be on any electoral roll.
The BNP argued it was clear Mr Robson wanted it to have the money.
It will now be shared by his sons.
