Grenfell Tower victims 'poisoned by cyanide' after insulation 'released highly toxic gas'
Cyanide gas released by burning insulation on Grenfell Tower could have contributed to the deaths of some of the 79 victims, it has emerged. Boards fitted during a refurbishment of the 24-storey block might have filled homes with the highly toxic substance when they caught fire, an expert has disclosed.
They could have produced enough deadly hydrogen cyanide to fill every flat at the west London high-rise, it has been reported. Manufacturer Celotex confirmed that the insulation would have released "toxic gases" if it caught fire.

You'd think they'd issue fire extinguishers and breathing equipment in these high rises with regular drills.

Hindsight is a wondrous thing, HT. Remember, asbestos was once considered an effective and ultra safe material. Now it is still killing people.
I'm as bitterly disappointed in Theresa May and the Tories as anyone else, not only over the botched general election campaign but also the dismal manner in which they dealt with the immediate aftermath of the fire, but actively whipping up anti-government demonstrations in the hope that they will turn violent and endlessly demonising May as though she had personally chosen and stuck this bloody stuff stuff on the walls of Grenfell Tower and God knows how many more buildings throughout the country, is nothing more than cynical opportunism and exploitation of one of London's greatest post-war tragedies and the natural anger and despair of those affected by it.

This seems to go from bad to worse.
I feel riots coming on, people are suffering up and down the country, others will stir up unrest which wont help the genuine victims but will use their grief to promote their cause...whatever that may be.

Hindsight? It's common sense. It's not as though there have never been any high rise fires, is it? What makes me laugh (or cry) about this kind of thing is that huge powerful entities like the EU have directives that forbid the sale of soaps in the shape of cupcakes in case someone takes a bite and chews but allow people to live in tinder boxes with no safety measures in place. They ban our light bulbs, and allow the slaughter of bulls in Spain.

In this heat, definitely riots. When's the next full moon?

We (group of friends) said exactly the same thing a couple of days ago, if the heatwave continues the riots will begin, definitely in London.
I had noticed the mood in Manchester seemed more accepting recently, but according to the police hate crimes have soared here since the bombing.....which is surprising because the general mood out in the city seems chilled.

What the hell do you expect when the Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer is openly calling for mass trade union "action" and for "millions" of people to take to the streets to bring down the democratically-elected, albeit minority government.
His aim is clearly to trigger off rioting and insurrection, regardless of the violence, attacks on police and any other emergency workers who are called to deal with injured and possibly dead, and the inevitable looting and destruction of shops and business properties.
Why the hell he hasn't been arrested and charged with incitement God alone knows.

My ex husband worked the City Centre in Manchester and he said they all dreaded the full moon because it meant more fights etc.

I don't understand astronomy/astrology/whatever.....but there does seem to be some truth in that full moons bring out the madness in people....hopefully there are no werewolves around.

There's a new moon this Saturday so it will be fourteen days after that.

This is the gleefully supportive coverage in the Morning Star, the Communist Party newspaper:
http://morningstaronline.co.uk/a-435b-July-1-Take-to-the-streets-to-give-May-the-boot#.WUwENemQzIU
It was also reported in mainstream national newspapers, and to anyone with a longish memory it should prompt recollection of those past reports about supporters of the Unite-payrolled Momentum faction that got Corbyn the leadership by using such techniques as bricks through windows and death and rape threats posted in the social media against those Labour MPs deemed to be less than enthusiastic about their nominee.
Just think: Can you recall any such mass demonstrations that did not result in criminal damage, attacks on the police, injuries and - the obvious principle motivation for many of these thugs - looting of shops?
McDonnell and his cronies know precisely what they are calling for.

Some of those people who took part of the "day of rage" were pathetic. Look at some of their faces. They were full of hate, so they're no better than the people they're blaming. Some of the spelling on the placards was appalling too.

Many modern household items and furniture release cyanide and a whole host of other toxic gasses and chemicals in a fire...
And this very same cladding has been fitted to blocks in Plymouth 15 years ago...
And met all the safety standards and building regulations then...
Who was in govt then...?

"...a study published in the World Journal of Surgery in 2011 found that more than 40 per cent of medical staff believed lunar phases had an impact on human behaviour and, in 2007, Sussex Police announced that they would put extra officers on patrol on nights when the moon was full, following research that showed “a correlation between violent incidents and full moons”.
One theory is that the water in our bodies is affected by the movement of the moon in much the same way as its gravitational pull controls the tides. As the fluid in our body shifts, it tips the balance in our minds, which can trigger extreme emotions.
The “lunar effect”, though, has been rubbished by a series of studies which have found no statistical correlation between lunar phases and events such as births, deaths, suicides, violence and psychiatric hospital admissions. However, says Dr Niall McCrae, a lecturer in mental health at King’s College London and the author of 'The Moon and Madness’, we should not dismiss the moon’s effect so swiftly.
Although he agrees the idea that our internal waters have some sort of tidal motion is “unfounded”, Dr McCrae points to studies that have shown the impact of moonlight on sleep as a feasible demonstration of the moon’s effect on the brain. Swiss researchers found in 2013 that, on average, people slept for 20 minutes less when there was a full moon. It may not sound like much, but such differences might well be the reason for the centuries-old association of lunacy with lunar cycles.
