Jeremy Corbyn has condemned the IRA's bombing campaign during the Troubles after coming under pressure to distance himself from the group's activities. The Labour leader said the IRA's actions were "completely wrong" because they killed civilians. Mr Corbyn said on Friday he had "never met" the IRA and had only held talks with its political wing Sinn Fein. But the Conservatives claimed comments by Diane Abbott in an interview on Saturday showed this was untrue. Ms Abbott, a long-time ally of Mr Corbyn, told LBC radio he had only met IRA members "in their capacity as activists in Sinn Fein".

Seems like they are all trying to cover for their love of the IRA to me

Glad to see finally Corbyn has denounced at least in part some terror attacks, but its not enough. Condemning just the bombing does nothing for the victims shot and murdered by the IRA and those kneecapped.

The fact is the IRA policies were also wrong, as you should not force a view onto a people through violence. I want to see a United Ireland more than many, but I respect the right of the Northern Irish to remain part of the UK.
