Diane Abbott helping secure Labour's disastrous election...
Absolute car crash of an interview.
I don't like what the Tories do but at least they know what they're doing.
Abbott may or may not have the best of intentions in politics, but we CANNOT have this level of ineptitude in one of the 4 most important roles in government.
This idiot would be the person responsible for our homeland security as Home Secretary. No fking way...
Still, maybe Liberals can at least become a more effective opposition.
Labour are finished for the forseeable future. Due in no small part to this paper shuffling muppet.

Diane Abbott Told ‘Hugely Embarrassing’ LBC Interview ‘Reduces Her Credibility’
Diane Abbott has denied she has lost credibility as a future home secretary after she struggled to explain how much Labour’s policy of recruiting 10,000 more police officers would cost.
In an interview with LBC this morning, the shadow home secretary appeared to suggest policemen and women would be paid just £30 or £8,000 a year.
She later appeared on the BBC’s Daily Politics programme and defended her performance. “I do know my figures,” she said. “I misspoke.”
“If I didn’t know my figures I wouldn’t have been able to repeat them correctly in six other interviews,” she added.
Labour has said in a press release that the cost of its police recruitment plan will be £300m - which would be paid for be reversing Conservative cuts to capital gains tax (CGT).

nicko, what do you think of the Liberals as a potential new opposition?
I know it won't happen this election, but the process could at least begin.
Labour need a complete turn around if they are to be taken seriously again.

Re: Diane Abbott helping secure Labour's disastrous election...
I remember a political programme I used to watch years ago - can't recall the name - but Diane Abbott and Michael Portillio were on it every week.
Even back then she'd leave me scratching my head. She's an idiot. She's always been an idiot.
And if she wants to be health minister then I suggest she sets a good example and doesn't always look like a soapy minger.

You're right about that interview...and the ones she gave on the BBC politics show and Sky TV News this morning were pretty damn disastrous too.
Why in the name of all that's holy did the Labour HQ press office even think of letting her loose within a mile of a radio microphone or TV camera given her past record as a spokesperson...even, from what I understand, to the point of having actively touted her around studios as the party's spokeman on the planned announcement on policing this morning and chauffeuring her from studio to studio...completely escapes me.
During the recent past she has had an utterly disastrous interview with Piers Morgan about defence, which showed that she had never even attempted to seek a briefing on the subject from party HQ, and an even worse one with Andrew Neil where she attempted to explain her sheer hypocrisy in having sent her kid to a fee-paying public school while actively campaigning against independent schools.
And then, to make matters even worse, she proved herself to be overtly racist by loftily claiming that "West Indian mothers would go to the wall for their children..." and repeatedly refusing point blank to agree with Neil that white mothers would do the same.
Perhaps her present position as shadow minister to one of the traditional Great Offices of State owes more to the fact that she was at one time Corbyn's mistress, because it's certainly nothing to do with her honesty and even less to her intellect, which one could most charitably describe as bovine.

Assuming that piece to be accurate (I have never seen it before and do have a natural suspicion of supposedly secret recordings of celebs' private telephone calls that appear years later and unattributed on Utube) you don't, surely, believe that I would ever condone it...in spite of you and your friends' belief that I am an ultra Right wing, baby-eating, servant-beating Tory card-carrying monster?
Abbott's interviews, however, I have seen and was I able to analyse them with a modicum of professional knowledge having, in my time, been an interviewee, interviewer and partner in a media training consultancy specialising in tuition and advice to senior executives on how to handle difficult and hostile press, radio and TV interviews.
My conclusion? Were I still in practice I would use her interviews as examples of everything NOT to do and how NOT to do it.
Jeremy should have called on the talented Dan Jarvis or Chukka Umunna - or indeed anyone - rather than his ex girlfriend.

You don't remember - not only is it accurate but Guppy was jailed.
I'd use Mays, polly parrot, polly parrot, locking journalists and public out - fact and saying she wants to stop tourists, all caught on tape.
How easily the masses are manipulated. Abbot makes cock up - all over the news all the time. May makes cock up, not a dicky bird is said. Her campaigning so far has been a farce.
Don't forget May saying she wants to stop all tourists (I think she probably meant terrorists) and locks journalists out of her meetings, that's when she isn't having them in a village hall in the middle of a forest with the public and journalists locked out. Of course, according to Laura (lick the Tory arse) K on BBC both May and Corbyn meeting have in invite only. May's have, about Corbyn that if the complete opposite of the truth and she knows it, been absolutely owned on Twitter.
And of course the investigations into May because her husband will benefit from Brexit, the investigations just starting about millions of pounds being funnelled from HSBC through a company owned by a Tory into the Tory Party, the charges about to be laid against Tory MPs and officials for election fraud, etc etc.
I totally despair of the level of intelligence of the UK public. Sometimes I think they deserve what they get. Of course, trouble is, we get it to. Talk about lambs to slaughter.

You can check here how high the National Debt is now:

£1,853,175,350,000 and counting.
What was it when the Tories came in?
Under £800 billion.
Those Tories, they know exactly what they are doing - NOT

I once made a slip of the tongue on a live BBC local radio radio show by mentioning "...the National Farters' Union..." Yep, really! Bloody embarrassing, and I wasn't allowed to forget it for a long time, but such shit (pun intended) happens, and even to the most seasoned of broadcasters.
So May possibly said "tourists" instead of "terrorists" - so what? The clip stops there, conveniently for Labour spin doctors and the party's zealots like Sassy who are no doubt desperately trying to find and exploit something - anything - to draw attention from Abbott's far, far more serious display of utter incompetence in either misunderstanding, or even not bothering to read, the pre-interview briefing she will have been given.
And in any case, Labour will never be able to explain away her hypocrisy and blatant racism demonstrated in the Andrew Neil interview.
Does May go on to say something like "oops!" and correct herself? We don't know. Sassy and whoever in party HQ is now maniacally shoving out anything they can use in an attempted damage limitation exercise don't want us to know.
That's called spin...and it's one thing that Labour have always been experts at; ask Alastair Campbell, Peter Mandelson, Charlie Whelan and Damien MacBride...the latter two having been caught out making up salacious stories about Tory MPs and hawking them round Labour-friendly tabloid newspapers and blogs with the express intention of damaging or even destroying not only their political careers but also their marriages and other relationships.

Sass, a slip of the tongue is just an error,, we all do it. Embarrassing but not suggestive of a person's abilities. Abbott has always had a ? over her head as a choice for Home Secretary and her repeated mistakes and lack of knowledge here is concerning.
At heart I'd prefer a more LW governbnent, even led by Labour. But in my head I honestly don't think this Labour administration is one that can be trusted. I actually think they are comfortable in opposition

No, that's what you have ingested from the media. The truth is I have never seen more determination and the tory lead is being pulled back every day. People are looking at the polices, at Corbyns obvious humanity against Mays aggressive robotic soundbites and changing their minds about who is really a strong leader with their best interests at heart and who is the leader of sleaze and pocket filling.

Sorry, I'm not as hopeful as you about labour's propects, sassy. But hey ho once the party hits rock bottom the only way is up. At least they will never get the blame if the post brexit dream turns out to be a nightmare.
After the election the tories will have nowhere to hide if they subsequently make a dog's dinner of the economy or anything else, especially if their majority is huge. Cloud/silver lining etc ...
Politics is nothing if not cyclical, everything goes round full circle eventually, if you wait long enough.

Labour are taking big hits in the local elections. The Tories are soaring. Whether Labour or Conservative is actually better for Britain may be up for debate, but one thing is not- the ability of each party to get its message across.
On this the Tories are lions.
Labour have failed. Alarm bells should be ringing. I don't want a decade of Conservative rule in the UK. We need a decent opposition fit to govern. Corbyn has to go surely

If you fill every post with a quota you end up with a party where ability has no part in the process.
that is why on the whole labours women contingent are mostly useless with a few obvious exceptions they all got where they are by not being the best person for the job, but by being a woman.
whereas the tories have now managed 2 women leaders and PM's although as labour have been so keen to say repeatedly Mrs May was not elected PM, and then equally keen to attacker her for calling an election to fulfil that oversight.
there have been some labour women who have got there on ability of course, Kate Hoey springs to mind, and of course the marvellous betty boothroid, and even barbara castle, cant think of many more though

Some are labour who have said they would rather vote Tory to oust Corbyn
Well you answered anyway
I can't imagine a labour voter having the stomach to turn Tory though.

dont worry lez, it will be more like 2 or 3 the way labour have collapsed.Eilzel wrote:Labour are taking big hits in the local elections.
Labour will off course, like they have done after the last 3 elections decide they lost becasue they were not left wing enough and go even further left.
remember it is 41 years since labour won an election without tony blair. they took a winning formula and turned it into dust.
I despise blair as much as the next man, but he did turn labour around and make it electable.

Talk about lambs to slaughter.
here's a whole bunch of straws for you to clutch at
I don't know about anyone else, but I find Sassy's opinions "how easily are the masses manipulated..." and "I totally despair of the level of intelligence of the UK public..." to be highly offensive and arrogant in the extreme.
Just who the hell is this bloody woman to insult the intelligence of voters and attempt to belittle their views in this manner?
Are not her many posts, mostly containing naked Labour propaganda, not also attempts to "manipulate"?
Does she consider herself, her views and her "level of intelligence" to be so infinitely superior to those of the rest of us?
If she is an example of the current attitude of and thinking within the Momentum-led Labour Party, then one can only worry very deeply about the future of democracy in this country, regardless of whether her party is in either government or opposition.

Re: Diane Abbott helping secure Labour's disastrous election...
the only masses whoa re easily manipulated seem to be those that still vote labour.
Had sassy and her maomentum pals not told labour voters to fuck off and vote tory then perhaps they wouldn't.
