Congressman tries to intimidate reporter, journalists say it happens a lot from him
The day after Rep. Michael Grimm gave a reporter a post-State of the Union smack down, others subjected to Grimm's wrath are coming out of the woodwork to swap tales of Grimm Gone Wild.
Grimm, a former Marine and FBI agent, outshined President Obama in the news coverage Tuesday night, when he threatened to throw NY1 reporter Michael Scotto off a balcony for questioning him about a federal investigation into claims of campaign finance fraud.
Turns out Tuesday's tirade was just the latest of Grimm's outbursts, with reports of a previous verbal altercation with NY1 reporter Errol Louis in 2012 and allegations Grimm brandished a gun and spewed threats during a Queens nightclub scuffle in 1999.
The New Yorker's Evan Ratliff cited witness accounts about how Grimm's allegedly instigated a scrum at the Caribbean Tropics club in July 1999 — drawing a gun and threatening to kill the ex-husband of Grimm's female companion, who had accosted Grimm earlier in the night.
An off-duty N.Y.P.D. officer Gordon Williams was present and told Ratliff that Grimm was "carrying on like a madman," declaring his intention to "f----n' kill," his date's former flame.
"Grimm left the club, but at 4 A.M., just before the club closed, he returned again, according to Williams, this time with another F.B.I. agent and a group of N.Y.P.D. officers. Grimm had told the police that he had been assaulted by the estranged husband and his friends. Williams said that Grimm took command of the scene, and refused to let the remaining patrons and employees leave. "Everybody get up against the fucking wall," Williams recalled him saying. "The F.B.I. is in control." Then Grimm, who apparently wanted to find the man with whom he'd had the original altercation, said something that Williams said he'll never forget: "All the white people get out of here," Ratliff wrote, citing Williams.
Grimm's dismissed Ratliff's account, published in 2011, as "fiction," and blamed the Democrats for doing a "hatchet job" on his reputation.
Then Public Advocate Bill de Blasio called on the police to release law enforcement records of the incident but no information was made publicly available.
NY1 political editor Bob Hardt also weighed in to describe Grimm's lastest behavior as just "part of a pattern."

The Republican voters certainly can pick them! Then we see this tendency to abandon McCain, who they wanted for president just six years ago. I guess the crazier the better?

Certainly sounds like it. Sarah Palin pales in comparison, at least she was only thick and stupid, not violent.

And to think that if McCain had won and he'd popped his cloggs during his term Sarah would have had the codes to the nuclear button.
And if Russia had invaded Georgia again well..............................................?
That's it folks

Grimm is a strong back and a weak mind. Former marine, he was an embarrassment to the FBI. Now Congress has him. It's their embarrassment now.
But it serves to point out how shallow the Republican Party is when it comes to thought and discourse. They've got about two responses, then it's on to fisticuffs.
It's how this nation gets into so many wars when a Republican is in charge. Thence, to the deficit. Is it any wonder they need to get out of the business of government?
