It's Grand National week at Aintree
Tommy is heading there as he likes to spend a day at the racists!
On a serious note, horses will die.
Is the Grand National cruel?

I think horse racing is cruel, yes.

The Grand National is obviously held on a bad course, when you look at the high injury and kill rates for that particular steeplechase...
I don't know why they didn't ban and close that place, and race, decades ago..

I am definitely uncomfortable with this particular race. Jumps are too high, too wide and it is too long. Horses naturally run, but stop when tired. They do not naturally jump 6' high or 6' wide fences and ditches.
Therefore they have been selectively bred to run and jump. Which means it is unnatural and slightly false.

That course has been modified down the years. It was truly lethal decades ago.
