A pickup truck has ploughed into a parade in New Orleans, leaving 28 inured. Initially it was reported that a dozen people people were in a critical condition. But later reports suggested none of the injuries were life threatening. Those injured were taken to seven different hospitals, the New Orleans Advocate reported.

The youngest victim is understood to be three years old and the oldest around 40. One of those hurt was a woman police officer.

THE suspected drunk driver who allegedly ploughed a pick-up into a crowd enjoying a mardi gras parade in New Orleans has been identified as 25-year-old Neilson Rizzuto.

Rizzuto was arrested on a number of charges and was being held at the city’s jail his alleged drunken rampage left 28 people injured, including five critically.

His grandmother, Lorettz Rizzuto, said her grandson was hardworking and not known to have a drinking problem.
